Create and save sovereign?

Are there plans to add the ability to create a sovereign that can be saved and used for later use in new games.

Is it already in the game and I just haven't figured out how yet?

Just click the button at the bottom of the sov screen. They should save, but I haven't tried it yet.

When you "create sovereign" it saves it for use in all future games. Did you even try heh? :)

yes it automaticly saved and available for future games once you created a soverign. But there is also a save button you can click on the designer screen.

I did in fact click the save button. Then it moves on to the civilization select screen and then on to the new game. But if I go back to start a new game, I don't see my custom sovereign as a selection in the sovereign list. I think it might be something to do with my Windows 7 laptop and maybe running Elemental out of Impulse. I will try running Elemental with it's desktop icon and as administrator to see if that resolves it. I will test more later.

I loaded Elemental on an XP system and the Sovereign did save and show up in the list as a selectable preset for another game. So running as admin in Win7 may fix it.

No.  It's not a permission problem.  Maybe there is a scrollbar or something you missed, but it's not a 'run as admin' issue that's affecting a single, obscure function like this.

What would be nice is the ability to edit saved sovereigns...

The sovereign list is fully visable so no need to scroll. If running as admin doesn't work I will uninstall and reinstall to see if that works. I'm going to be busy so I may not get to testing it right away but I hope to try some things tonight now that I know it can save.

Being able to edit the sovereign later would be a good feature to have.

You can edit sovereigns.  Just look at the .xml and change what you want.    Not to hard actually.  The files are in the MyDocuments/MyGames/elemental/units directory.

It doesn't always work though, often I create a sovereign, save it, go back to see him in the selection menu to find he isn't there afterall

Sweet, thanks, now I can remove the crappy sovereigns that I designed on my first few attempts.

Right click on the sovereign you want to delete and it will then ask you if you are sure you want to delete it. Only works on custom sovereigns.

I can tell you I run in Windows 7 although I downloaded from impulse and it works fine.

Very good to know. Believe me, if I'm just being thick in the head and find it works fine tonight I will own up to it.

It may be because I think you said you manually installed it probably is windows 7 security which can block writting to certain folders if the user you installed it as doesn't have permissions.

Hah, thanks.  I looked for a button at the bottom of the screen...

...i think if you don't save your game and quit/start new game... (autosave might count as save) then the custom sov just disappears

nothing to do with permissions.

i'm saying this.. because i think i've had sovs saved and not saved... haven't changed any permissions/folder.

:X   well this is totally embarrassing but I fire up Elemental on my Win7 laptop and there sit the sovereigns I created. Geez.

They weren't there last night I tells ya! The cake is a LIE! All your base belong to us...
