Cannot use modded CoreNameRuleset.xml

I have created my own modded version of the CoreNameRuleset.xml file but no matter if I put it in the Mod directory or any of the directories in my MyGames/Elemental folder, I am still getting the old name generator.   Any ideas on what I need to do to mod this?

Modded files need to go into MyGames/Elemental/units folder, ( I shortcut that & call it SAVES ), or in the main directory/Mods folder.

If still not working, simply put your ORIGINAL unmodded files in a "safe" place...example ORIGINAL folder.

First CoreNameRuleset creates names for units and cities. WorldNameRuleset creates names for Worlds.

Second, you need to put files in your mods directory and to create the right path. So you need to put it in Elemental\Mods\data\english

Vieuxchat, interesting.  I have not done that (created data/english) with the several other mods that I have installed, and they work without problems.   I wonder if that would make a difference.    Have either of you actually tried modifying the NameRuleset files (I actually have changed both the world and the Core files), and gotten it to work.

I really do know how to use mods and I am using, and have created several.  It's just this one that doesn't seem to want to work.   If anyone has successfully modded the ruleset files, I'd love to hear about it.

thanks for the help.

Yes, what I've been saying will work, I've already done it in beta 2 or 3 (don't remember).

Did you find a way to have capital letters ? I can add spaces in names, even --> ' (don't know what's the name of that thing in english  ) but I can't use capital letters. And I can't create names like "The Grand Thing", only "The grand thing"

If you have capitals does it just fail or convert them to lowercase.  (I have a lot of capital letters in my names, which could explain the problem if that is a problem).

Still no luck.  I put the files in a data/English folder under my mods folder but I still get the old world generator & name generator.   Here are the files if anyone is interested in trying them.

I tried a lot of things. You didn't add the iso-blahblahblah in your file. But when I added it it didn't change anything. You forgot the checksum part, but again, it wasn't that was hiding the file to the game.

I changed its directory (in mods, mods\data and mods\data\English). Nothing.

I changed the values of your probabilities to 0.267 (maybe numbers too long ?) Nothing

I copy/pasted the original file, get rid of every production rule but the first one, set probability to 1 and reaplce to "test". Nothing. Changed that file to mods then mods\data then mods\data\English.

Nothing.

Don't know what to try next...

Thanks for trying.   I appreciate the effort.  I'll have to see if SD has any ideas.

Thanks again!
