[suggestion] farming ideas to make Elemental AWESOME!

I've mentioned this to Jesse but the one thing I find difficult is farming:S . There are few fertile lands to develop food, even when you do find some farm land, when you build multiple cities, you find that the farm land dries up quick...even after you irrigate, build farming guilds, and improve farming. I ran out of food just building 5 cities, with 2 fertile lands, and with a handful of huts, but the computers have no problem creating huge cities with limited resources, even when I take over an AI city, I am stuck with a city with 10 huts and negitive food. I have a couple of ideas to help this without too much work.

Have Harbors produce food...could be as little as +2 food, but it makes sense that you fish from harbors.

Heck, you could even make a new building called "Fish Market" that adds a 50% increase to harbor food...so a +1 food, but Harbor must be built.

Have Irrigation create either fertile land or food. Irrigation is used in places that are not rich in water, so it makes sense that it creates fertile land. If it does create food, make it limited to +1 or +2 food, rather than a 25% increase...And I wouldn't limit to just one, let them build multiple.

Also I heard that at one time, earth+water users could create fertile land. This would help too, but it would cost like +8 or +10 mana or something.

Now, if there is more food, you can make more buildings, even have an upgraded version of the hut, call it house, and have it cost +2 food, but creates +70 population.

I know that this game is still improving, that is why I like it! I hope you continue to make this game great and keep at it!

By the way, I created a "Jolly Green Giant" hero and produced as much farming as possible and I still run out of food. X( Green Giants poor kids, lil sprout and baby carrot have no food! They almost resorted to vegetarianism, which in this case is a healthier form of cannibalism. Please feed my city!

well i play on large maps and currently have 25 citties - and plus food!

but i do pick which of my cities get to be lucky enough to get houses - specially the ones that have special bonus fields so with level/buildings can increase them.
(granted i was lucky enough to find a city 3x4 area that had 3 food resourches!!)

but yes - i like the harbor thing - but i would say there should be a (fish) icon at the water to represent that the waters actually have enough fish to farm - since the world is "dead"

i kinda imagine that the spell that gave +1 food was the food booster spell you wanted - but yes they could make more of them - like +1+2+3 (increasingly costs on the spell each time - so when you actually manage to get a caster that can manage a +3 bonus to a city its a big deal!)

the increase in houses are allready there - but it increases the prestiege making population come to the city faster.

That is pretty lucky, I was able to find some land that had about 7 goodies within a tile of each other, but still ran low on food. Still, It was awesome to find 2 fertile lands, 2 lost libraries, 2 ores, and a scenic location. I made sure to max as much as possible on this land.|-)

Also, I would like to regretful inform everyone that the "Jolly Green Giant's" son, Sweet Pea, has lost his life in battle. Apparently, he was walking from the city...Great Greens to Stir-Fry Village when he was attacked by a bandit who uttered the phrase "The foolish, I pity". The bandit who is unknown to the land of Vegetable Patchapparently did not know he slaughtered royalty. There was a note found next to the victim with the words scribed, "Thouest not taketh thy jibber jabber, taken is his eight-hundred he collects." Guards who discovered the body noticed that Sweat Pea's leather purse carrying eight-hundred pieces of gold was stolen, along with his solid gold necklace. There is a bounty of +20 gold for the capture of this mo-hawked assassin.

The second resource tech under quests gives you 2 farms right by your cities.  personally I don't find myself needing much food and am always running a surplus.  the only cities that need to level up are the ones attached to gold mines, arcane temples, or lost libraries.  leveling up all the cities is kinda pointless since there is no benifit without the specilization.

That's true, but I love building BIG cities. What's fun with a town with one hut? or even, no huts at all.... I say, huts all around, let there be huts!

It is now a proud day in the land of Vegetable Patch, The marrige of Sweat Pea Jr. and Cream. It was only a matter of turns when the bundle of joy, Pea Soup was born. Will this union of the Dark Dairy and Green Giants last?

The trumpets sound as the call for war is heard in the land of Vegetable Patch. It appears that the treaty with the Dark Dairy has soured. The messenger reported that the mo-hawked thug sided with the Dark Dairy King and is gathering his troops to march to Corncob Cove. His army was reported at being 450 power. The small village of Corncob Cove was only a tiny 65. Other troops are traveling to the village to offer a better defense, but will not make it in time. To make matters worse, Princess Cream was kidnapped by the mo-hawked thug. Where was the "Jolly Green Giant?", He was last seen by Onion Outpost venturing through the unknown wasteland. It was up to the first in line, Lil Sprout, the ill baby carrot, and the angry Sweat Pea Jr.
