[Exploit] Trading with AI

Through trade windows with AI, I can profit off them for no benefit on their part. This can only work if both parties have a sufficient amount of gildar.

Example: I'll buy all your metal for 2,000 gildar. "Deal!" Say...I noticed you have no metals, pretty important stuff... How bout I trade you all your metal back for say... 6,000? "Deal!" Hold on let me add a little bit of my own metals so I can take all 8000 of your gildar. "Deal!"

Like stealing candy from a baby...

It would be pretty funny if the AI was smart enough to realise it had just been swindled and declared war on you because now it has all the metal.

LOL ok that needs to be fixed...

it doesnt work.  AI buys back at 1/5 the price that it sells.

buying 24,809gp - selling back 5,407 gp.

I bet the OP has Highly researched Diplomacy and Retarded does not and that Diplomacy changes the trade ratios...  Dollars for donuts I'm guessing thats what's going on.

End of Gene1966's quote

would take a lot of refining to put trades in the green.  there has to be some other value modifiers involved.

The main trading exploit I've noticed is the valuation of Diplomatic Cpital varying depending on your peace/war stance.  Usually the difference is a couple orders of magnitude.  It's led to exchanges like this:

  • I see my opponent has 1000 gildar
  • I declare war
  • He values a peace treaty at something like 5000 and diplomatic capital at 200 each
  • I trade him 30 diplomatic capital for peace and 1000 gildar.
  • Now that we're no longer at war, he values diplomatic capital at 2 apiece.
  • I trade him 60 gildar to get back my 30 diplomatic capital.
  • Net results: I gain 940 gildar, he gains nothing.
