modding the core xml files

Ive read in another thread that this wont work, but I know I changed something in my core xml files and I am almost positive it worked after doing the /createxmlbinary thing. Im at work right now so I cant actually cite a specific thing but will later on after work.

Anyways Im asking because of the 1.08 version about to come out with multiplayer, I am curious if modding these xml files will have a detrimental effect on multiplayer, if the game checks the xml files and see's something that is off like lets say we raised taxes by 5% in the core xml file, is that going to pour over to the multiplayer and cause a fatal error or is the game going to use xml files from a central server to ensure no possible mods are working.

food for thought anways

also in testing out creating a new campaign I didnt know where to put it in the mod folder so i put it in the data/english folder with the rest of teh core files and the campaign popped up just fine in the game so I know that at the very least you can add to the core xml files and have it effect the game.

I've modded the core files before (gave myself 1000 gold) and they worked. Just put them in the mod folder. I thought I read somewhere that multiplayer would check that all the files match for each player.
