I'm like so disappointed.

So many people complaining about not having enough races, that where were the MoM races... And I'm still waiting for someone releasing an elven mod. It has been more than a couple of weeks!! Really!

I'm quite sure that Raven is on it for Dragonlance but his bias to undead has taken the best of him. :P

It's not like it was the most difficult thing to do. Create some new race, call it elven (High Elves type as we lack "sylvan" thingies), use some Wraith faces (remember: pointy ears!!) and skins (Quendar would take more effort), add lots of "items" for them (the armours, clothes, eyes...), dabble with the faction colours, add their basic units... Not that I'm asking for a custom tech tree!!! Just the simple option of elves as selectable race, nothing to balance!!!

What's next? Force me to release my elven rece mod? Create a dark elf version of such mod? Create some "civilized" orcs based on the Urxen?

Back to discover the secrets of "New Tech Trees and how you screw it duplicating some effects without knowing how".:P

O_o uh well that certainly IS a suprise no elves? Hmm well I certainly won´t work on a complete race, but if you started I could do some texture work for you ;)

Undead get precedence because they are my favorite fantasy race and something the game lacks worse than Elves :P

Hey, at least I already made the skin for you ;)

No elves, no stunties and no anthropomorphs, it is actually quite refreshing. ;)

Im waiting on the harem and marry the other faction leaders mod.

Elves only serve one meaningful purpose, to be the victims of genocide.

It's not, because we don't get anything interesting in exchange.

Why not do a total conversion mod to Warhammer Fantasy.  All the classic races are represented there.

Come on! One faction is like slightly orange! How can you diss that?

XD

I'm mostly joking because considering how many people were crying that there were no elves (high elves, dark elves, sylvan elves, pink elves, magical elves, protoelves...) and more exotic races, I find surprising that we still haven't got a thread with a release of an elven race (I'm not even saying faction, just race). Or Orc. Which are the two easiest races to add right now (elves won't be sylvan and orcs not savage enough but it's a start).

I made an elven race mod yesterday before creating this thread (in a pause of my amazon mod... which will turn into elven amazon mod for my Dying Sun mod once I start with it). It needs to tweak the colour schemes, maybe play some more with the cloth selections... and deal with some problem with the race XML (the game using old files? the XMLs seem fine). But it has taken me just some hours: 3 wraith male faces which are not very elven but has pointy ears, 2 wraith female faces of which only 1 is elven but both have pointy ears, proper skins for them, creating their own cloth lists, for armours too... It's quite basic and needs more custom .hkb thingies to really have some elven elves but if I could make something as basic as what I have done, I find surprising that no one else has done (and released) it yet.

Oh, Raven, true orcs are GREEN!!! XD Well, my Orcuses in Dying Sun are BLACK (literally) with reddish tones but that's another story. :P

About game canon races and such, I'm glad of having something new instead of the same stuff over and over. That said, the more options for sandbox the better so in the modding camp I can expect some "usual stuff" being, eventually, created/released. In that way we can customize our sandbox experience as much as we want ("Today I feel like playing elves", "Today total canon game"...)

Oh no, no no no. You can't get away with saying "true orcs are GREEN" and then say you have black and reddish orcs in your Mod. Which is it? Because in my book, which corresponds with old school D&D, says that all orcs Don't have to be green :). Tolkien's orcs aren't all green either :P

Warhammer Orcs and Orks are green. D&D cartoon orcs are green. D&D orc pictures have greenish tones. Think green! (Tolkien orcs are ugly elves :P )

I plan to use orcs for Dying Sun, and they will be green(ish). Orcuses on the other hand, are the "parents" of the orcs and came from another dreamworld. So if they want to be black with reddish tones, who am I to stop them? :P

I was definitely contemplating a "Sylvan" elf mod... new models, new tech tree, new buildings. The key to the race would be that they MUST build their cities on forest tiles. If they build outside of the forest tiles, they can only establish outposts.

Of course, they could use spells such as "create forest" to immense effect... they would literally reshape the world as they conquered it.

I plan for this is to just have the tiles they build be "foresty". Of course I am doing Dryads and such, not elves.
