As I look through the forums I see a lot of complaining and not a lot of valuable help to the dev team. As a developer myself I know that good, detailed bug reports are what is going to help them to make this game what we want it to be. My list will stick to technical bugs I've found as I don't feel like I can comment yet on the game play balance with only 10-15 hours of game time into it.
Bugs
1. If you have the unit build window up and not enough money or resources to buy a certain unit, and then you click next turn and receive enough resources, the unit build window does not refresh, you have to close it and reopen it. Many of the bugs I've seen are related to refreshing current views when you click the next turn button. I have auto-turns off, but I'd say you should either not allow the next turn click or refresh all open windows when next turn is clicked.
2. If you are queuing buildings to be created in a town and click another town without closing the window you are not allowed to select the other town. Sometimes, in the case of the hut, you will actually be adding to the queue of the first town each time you click.
3. A few times (like in my current save game) I have found that I will all of a sudden be able to see a point out in the ocean through the fog of war. When I look at it, it is actually a duplicate of one of my towns. In the case of my saved game, the town still exists in it's created place but the "link" in the ocean is a duplicate. This may be related to caravans as I had just created my first few when it happened both times I've seen it.
4. once in battle mode I selected my familiar and attacked and he walked to the wrong corner of the square to fight, so the fight didn't occur. When I selected another unit and gave it orders then the familiar completed the attack correctly.
5. Sometimes wandering monsters will attack my towns and I will click to auto-resolve the battle and then it goes back to the main world screen and no battle takes place. In the same case when I click battle it will work correctly. I have also had the battle work correctly and destroy my last unit in that town, but then the monsters leave without touching the town. I don't know if that in intentional or a bug, though I would expect if they wanted to attack the units in the town they would also want to destroy it if they could.
6. When you select the spell to give some of your essence to a unit and then you click a group of units, it just picks one and gives the ability to them. It would be nice if it made you choose who to give the power too.
7. When a pioneer is in a group of units and you try to build a city it will say the terrain must be clear to build there. If I separate that unit from the group and try to build on the same location it will work correctly.
8. Something I've noticed with GalCiv2 and Elemental, I have a laptop that is 1280x800 and I frequently plug into a 1920x1080 monitor when at home. If I set the game up to work on the home monitor and then shut it down and unplug the monitor. When I start the game again it has a hard time getting the resolution fixed for the smaller screen. It is like it should use the saved resolution if it matches the current monitor, or reset to some "safe" size if it doesn't match.
Features
1. When creating a unit it would be nice to have a button to randomly choose another pose for the picture, quote at the bottom and/or unit name.
2. Maybe you can do this already and I just don't know how, but it would be nice to upgrade one unit type to another, for example, if I have peasants at all my towns and I want to hand them all axes when I get the tech, shouldn't I be able to do that at just the cost of the axes? There may need to be some limitation on this though, I know galciv2 will only allow upgrades within the same ship class.
3. It took me a while to figure out why I could talk to some NPCs and others I couldn't, it would be nice if there was some indicator that I didn't have enough money to hire them or if it would allow me to talk but not allow me to purchase their help until I had the funds instead of just crossing out the talk icon.
4. When building in the towns, it would be nice for a double-click on a building to be the same as hitting build, so you can just queue them up quickly.
5. There should be an X to close the window in the right corner of the unit queuing screen instead of the number of free people in the town indicator and the 'done' button down in the lower left.
I believe that is everything I've encountered so far. If I find anything else I will add it to this post so the bugs will be easy for the devs to find. I welcome others to do the same.
Thanks for the great game,
Mike
