[Idea]Making shops more interesting

This is my first post on these forums, so yay! :)   Now onto the topic.

I was just reading through some of the posts on these forums when I came up with an idea to make your kingdom's shop more interesting.

So let's say that you've just researched the tech which gives you padded armour. When you go to the shop you will only find a couple of pieces of padded armour; that could be a cuirass and a helm. However the next time you go to the shop you could find that a padded armband has been stocked, but they are out of helmets.

Now let's say you've researched the tech that gives you leather armour. When you go to your shop you'll find that their stock of leather armour is patchy: so they could have leather greaves but no other leather pieces of armour. BUT the full set of padded armour has been fully stocked.

The next time you go to the shop they could be out of leather greaves, but they have got leather helmets and armbands stocked. However they would still be fully stocked of padded armour.

This would gives a sense of advancement: people would be desperately trying to get the best bits of gear. So shops would struggle to keep those items in stock.

What I was thinking was to give shops some variability; in the same vein as random events.

So, what do you guys think?

I concur. I actually mentioned something like this in a couple posts/responses.

Agreed. With every store stocking every item upon being researched, there is something that feels off.

The idea of different items being in separate stores seems important, to give the game a more "role playing" feel. For instance, one turn after plopping my town down far away from its fellow cities, it can sell legendary armor and create powerful units (limited only by number of citizens). Though it would change the gameplay, I'd like to see a more realistic development to item creation.

Perhaps a town needs certain buildings to build specific items (Ex: leather armor and Metal armor making methods are entirely different). This would allow certain towns to focus on particular objects/ units, as happens in the real world. Doing so would also lead to variety amongst the cities, which currently have few notable differences between them.

I like this idea (not for army creation or units but for sovereigns and heroes) because it'd make things a little more interesting and have a purpose.

To make metal armour you would need a blacksmith instead of a leather worker, and perhaps the blacksmith could only be built in a city which has iron ore.
