Out of Memory; Frequency

Playing on Win7, 64bit. 4g ram, 6-60g pagefile on my raptor.

Once I'm like 200+ turns into a game, it seems that about every 1-5 turns my game crashes w/a "Out of Memory" system window popping up.   Is this normal?

Same config here, i do not get out of mem errors unless playing for a very long time.

However i also have elemental installed on another computer and there it out-of-mem's significantly more often. That other computer has an older video card tho (with an appropriately old driver) and only 2 gigs of ram. Not sure what exactly is the cause. It might be worthwhile to upgrade the graphic card driver to the latest if you didn't already.

Not trying to be a prick, but there are a million "out of memory" threads.. do a search, you'll see. No need to start yet another one.

Same for me.

It's not just normal, it seems to happen to a large percentage of the player base, and it has been doing so since the early Betas.

Autosave is set for every two turns, complemented by quick saves. Getting out of memory kinda sucks a bit, yeah...

Actually "large percentage of the player base" may not be accurate.. however it is obviously effects more then a few.. I have not had one single memory leak since gold let alone 1.06.. I am running on windows xp 4 gigs ram (even though silly pc only uses 3.5ish), athalon 64 x2 6000+ cpu, mn2-e mb and geforce9800 gtx plus.. I do not really see any significant performance issues wtih tons of monsters/npc's on the map.. but again others are so I think have some very specific errors associated with some system configurations..

this has got to be driving the tech staff at stardock nutz trying to figure what is going on..I know I would be trying to trouble shoot it..

Moved to support. If you're seeing OOMs that quickly, we definitely want to see your debug.err file.

Perhaps you and I just have a different idea of what constitutes a large percentage. I would consider even 5% of people suffering from a bug that cripples performance (before the crash) and stops people from playing a game to it's finish (due to an unavoidable repeatable crash) to be large enough to constitute a significant portion of the player base.

I will admit that, from my perspective, things may be seem a bit skewed. I only have my own experience, and the numerous threads about subjects such as this to place my projection as a "large" percentage. I'm not trying to say that the vast majority of people have issues, I don't have any hard data that would make that statement anything more than hyperbole. Personally, I'd love to think that there were more people having fun with the game, than sitting and reading through the forums wishing they could enjoy the experience themselves.
