Battles auto-resolve automatically & Campaign troll quest issue

I just started my first game (after attempting to play through the campaign) and have found that when i go to attack enemy units the battles auto-resolve automatically rather than prompt me to start a tactical battle etc as in the campaign.  Is this a setting somewhere i somehow turned off or is it a bug?

Also playing through the campaign i was killing trolls for someone called irane (i think) got the text saying to return to her but wheni go back to her area it says i still need to kill the trolls.

Tactical battles is a setting.  Select "Options" from Main Menu at start-up ("Esc" key in-game also brings up "Options" screen).

Look on right hand side of Gameplay Tab.  4th selection down is slider for Tact-Battle Threshold.  Lower the # for more tactital battles.

90% of my battles prompt me, but the other 10% or so auto-resolve before I'm given the option to choose whether I want to fight the battle myself. Does this happen after you load a saved game? After you've started a new game? Only in battles without a Champion? (ex. peasants-only)

To RavenFirecaster:  I haven't seen that happen, but I keep my Tact-Battle slider set on zero.  Have you tried that?
