Need Open Borders Option

I think this game really needs an option for open borders treaties and not have that linked to non-agression pacts. In a few games now i have had units exploring the world and had my non agression pacts end. Because of the layout of the land these units were trapped. I was going to make another non-agression pact but a) i wanted to declare war on the other faction in about 20 turns. and b) it was way too expensive.

The fact that the pact was so expensive also brongs up another issue. The pact was expensive because the other empire thought it's military was so much stronger than mine. The fact is that I had aquired a ogre camp and had lots of coin so I was pumping out groups of ogres and could have easily marched through the other empires forces. It doesnt appear that the game was calculating in the ogres when it was figuring my strength. just what other units i had and my conquest level. So the other empire wanted soooooooo much for a non-agg pact and it was rediculous.

In another game i ended up getting boxed in by water and other factions and without paying for non agression pacts i was stuck in my little corner of the world. This game needs to add an option for open borders and not have them solely linked to non agression pacts.

Just my 2 cents but I think this is a must for the first major update.

I agree. As some in some of the quests the locations are in enemey lands. I also agree that what the AI asks for is ridicolous.

yea, the "value they AI places on non-aggor pacts is rediculous. it jumps condierably the moment they view their army even 1 point superior to yours.

Open borders would allow for a lot mor exploration

Just started another game and about 50 turns in realized i was out on a "peninsula" for lack of a better term and was blocked from getting off of it and exploring by another kingdom that wanted the sky for non-aggro treaty

Open Boarders...please O:)

Think about what it would take you to accept a non agression pact to a random someone you thought you could beat.  I doubt a human player would agree as quickly as the AI, even with teh increased cost.

I agree. that is why that cost should not be associated with being able to pass through another kingdoms territory. Open borders should be a seperate agreement. If you are in another kingdoms territory and you declare war it would move your units to the nearest spot outside the borders so you could not take advantage of piling up in their territory next to a city. This would be the same way it works in CIV4. Being able to explore the world, which a large part of this game should not have such a high cost. Non-aggro treaties can then keep the higher cost as they probably should
