[SUGGESTION] Don't let me marry Janusk (please!)

Right now there's a huge difference in the dynasty component of the game between playing as a male sovereign vs a female one: females get to marry Janusk within the first few turns of the game.  He doesn't have the greatest stats, but stats don't seem to matter much with your dynasty anyway.

I don't think that it should matter so much whether you choose to be male or female, and I think from playing the beta that it was not intended for it to be so easy to get married.  I suggest that it be made impossible to marry Janusk, by having him always be the same gender as the player character.

Alternatively, make it always possible to marry Janusk (by modifying his gender to be opposite the player character's gender).  Either way, I don't think that the gender of my character should have such an impact on the process of starting off my dynasty.

IMO, this points to another big problem with the dynasty system, which is that it seems much better to just marry the first genetically compatible being you meet, thus getting your kids out sooner, than to wait around for a more powerful champion who would give them better stats -- it would be great if Stardock could find a way to fix that too, but I'd be happy to just give Janusk an auto-sex-change for now.

Good point, that or make it so that Male sovereigns get.. uh... Janushka? ;)

Cheers,

I'd rather see Janusk get removed completely, even though the option is there.  His advice can be covered in the tutorial.

He's a fairly decent free leader (the free is a very important consideration) that gives you either a tech point, an arcane point, or a gold piece every turn. He's actually pretty valuable, pound for pound.

I think better than removing Janusk would be having another option in the Sovereign Creator as to your "advisor". Select from a list of options what kind of advisor you want, such as "Merchant" "Researcher" "General" or "Sage". They would all be Janusk, but they would be Janusk with varying stats and the bonus you want to start with.

Another way to go is to greatly increase his reputation, so that you can't marry him until much later.

I don't think that is "another way", I think that should go alongside it. I would suggest both the advisor and giving him a reputation of 2.0 or more.

Well in my game Janusk turned into a women in the later statges of the game. His portrait changed to that of a womens.

ironic, I was just going to suggest that there be a tech or spell that let same gender produce offspring and/or to swap genders.

He's not free and does cost a small amount of gold to recruit. An increase in needed reputation might help, but how hard is it to gain rep anyway? He does give a bonus to female sovereigns, as finding female champions can sometimes be difficult.

I'd sooner we got a random champion at the start in place of Janusk..he's fine for the campaign but in a custom game he should not be a fixed starting feature.

I think we should be able to marry men or women... after all, we're the king, we make the rules!

Ahhh, wait.  I like Landisaurus' idea for Arcane Transgendering.

We need a separate spellbook for that.

Actually, what we need is ability to marry summons. Or have hero-like, permanent summons, which can be married.

Its totally natural for Empire Sovereign to make a pact with some dark demon to empower his bloodline and have half-demon offsprings. THAT would be awesome.

Marrying Janusk is a mistake.. any early spouse is not as good as one acquired later in game.. and an early start to dynasty is not that big a jump.. in many games with in first 25 turns I have found female I could hire .. but I often pass them up looking for one with good stats for best chance of strong kiddies heh heh. If something must be done make female Advisor for male sovereign or simple remove the option to marry Janusk (say he is monk with oath of celibacy :P )

Make him unable to marry.  Just say he took a vow of abstinence that prevents him from marrying.  Or just blame it on a horrible jousting accident as to why he's unable to sire children.
