Good afternoon people. These are some personal comments about the game so far. I'm sorry; I understand the post is very big, but the intention is good
Some gameplay suggestions
+ I believe that when units stack loses HP (or "units") its attack and defense rating should decrease accordingly. This feature is standard to other strategy games that use stacks.
+ I would like to be able to retrain units into stacks. Requirements: the units must be the same, the tech should be available and a nice amount of gildar is needed. This would the player to re-organize its army into more useful elements later in the game. All those individual soldiers from the beginning, even if they are heavily armored, don't stand a chance (usually) against stack units, because of their high defense rating.
+ The possibility to retrain units into other units would be a nice feature. Their current gear would be recycled into the resource pool, so the cost of the upgrade would be lessened a bit. Another player has suggested the possibility to decommission the unit, returning it to the population pool of the city. I also like this idea.
+ HP regeneration of stacks should be increased when they are resting in a settlement. One nice improvement (ex: the Inn) should give a considerable bonus to this ability.
+ Units should gain experience from combat, gradually increasing its hp. It would be the natural counterpart to training experienced units at a cost of time.
+ I would like to have the option (in gameplay options) to a use single unit representation for the stack. Seeing twelve soldiers in their horses packed into a single title is a bit awkward. A visual token could be used to indicate the number of "units" in the stack. Ex. the number of units above the head, or the unit should be scaled up.
+ Training units with special abilities would be very nice. One practical implementation: tech progression would unlock the necessary improvement. In units design, the tab "Abilities", or "Feats", or "Strengths" would be unlocked. In that settlement, we could add to the unit design, one or more abilities - naturally with great costs to gildar and/or to time. The abilities would have equipment requirements. Ex: “shield bash” needs a shield. “Poison dagger” requires a dagger. Other possibility (more simple): no improvements are needed, only the tech. All settlements could train the new abilities. Another possibility: no new tab is needed. Tech would unlock special items that would add the new ability: a special shield or a special dagger. A prefer the first ones.
+ Defense rating against spells should be calculated differently to avoid the frequent misses of powerful spells. One suggestion, although it's harder to implement: add a new attribute, like "arcane defense", to handle defense against spells. Spells shouldn’t ever be missed, but the damage should be mitigated.
+ In multiplayer battles, it would be very nice the following feature: during a tactical battle, if a player has a unit nears the title where the battle is occurring (within its vision range), the player could watch the battle as an observer. The title(s) of the battle would be marked with a special visual token (ex: a flag) to inform the players of the event.
+ A journal option in the in-game encyclopedia should keep record of the significant events in the history: marriages, births, conquest of settlements, loss of settlements, the death of a champion, a significant battle where a sovereign had to flee to save himself, battles between sovereigns, new treaties, starting of wars, the loss of a faction, etc.
+ The possibility to record the game for replay.
+ The possibility to train battle mages. These would have (much) less essence than the sovereign’s, and they could only cast pre-trained tactical spells. However, their mana would be replenished after the battle. Instead of ATK attribute, the battle mage would have INT. The value of INT would come from magical equipment, like the mage staff, or wand.
Bugs found
+ This one was already appointed. When loading a game, a stack unit can lose its “stack” data if its HP is not full. For example, I have a “Guardians” single unit that has the equivalent HP/ATK/DEF of two soldiers. It was originally, I think, an 8x or 4x stack.
+ In the map, the settlements info-bar (don’t know how it is called) can be swapped. When I clicked in one of my settlements, the info-bar was from another settlement, sometimes from an adversary.
+ I offered a daughter to marriage (this sounds a little bad). After that, in her description card, she appears as the daughter of the husband’s father, not my sovereign’s daughter.
+ I would like to change the description of my custom designed units. They all have the “peasant with a stick” description, although they are mounted armored soldiers with broadswords.
+ Sometimes, after conquering a new settlement, the influence border around some titles is not updated to reflect the new owner, preventing me to use them.
