Cant get any of the mods to work

Hi there. So I have downloaded a few mods posted here in the forums, One with new armors and another that adds parrying weapons. The instructions for install were very simple they told me to place the files in my documents\my games\elemental\items which I did. I then loaded up my game (with "use mods" checked) yet the effects of the mods do not seem to register. Any body know what I am doing wrong? Many thanks

Might require you to restart the game (not savegame compatable) or possibly use:

 

Mods: Place the mods into your "C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Elemental\Mods" directory and enable mods in the options.

/createxmlbinary

This is one of the more "advanced" things for Elemental modding but, unfortunately, necessary to properly implement mods. You put it into your Elemental.EXE shortcut after everything. I put mine in my launcher shortcut using this for the shortcut's target "C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Elemental\ELLaunch.exe" /createxmlbinary  (quotes included).

This essentially reloads all your data and you should only have to do it once. You will notice a longer initial load time for a new game. It hasn't frozen, it's updating everything. Be patient.

Thanks for the replys. I tried starting a new game (I had tried this before and it hadn't worked) and the mods are now working :). This time I did uncheck a box in options called "use local data" or some such would that have had an affect on the mods working or not?

Anyone really know what "use local data" actually does? I don't really have a clue.
