One of my friends recently sent me a link to 1up's review of elemental and I thought I should share it on here,

The comments also say that Stardock is offering refunds for people, can someone comment on whether or not this is true? It would be nice to get back the money I spent on this game. It just feels like a game that is released while it could obviously use some more work (crashes/glitches, no multiplayer support on day 1, and a lack of any substantial improvement over the visuals and animations in the beta) makes you feel a bit less confident in a developer.

your better off keeping the game though. Id say 30 days from now the game is going to be a very much diffrent game from now and.. 2 months from now well it'll be even better... :) This is the type of game that evolves and you get to be there on day 1 to see it all happen.

I asked for a refund.

If the game improves significantly and becomes really fun, I will purchase it again. In fact, you aren't better off keeping it for 30 days. You are better off getting a refund (if you don't like the game, of course) and then if you feel the game has improved, buy it 30 days later.

I'll still be on the forums and on the site reading about the evolution, but I don't have to play the game when I don't get any fun out of it. And there's no point keeping the game around if I'm not playing it for a month, I can use that cash for other purchases and re-evaluate Elemental later.

True, but when you have a company sending out major patches this often you really might be better of keeping it and just seeing whats changed or not. You know this game wont be in the bargain bin for atleast a year so unless you plan on buying it then...   Besides all that, if you are interested in helping us improve this game you should keep it and report things like bugs or things you don't care for or would LOVE to see because this Dev Team really listens and they put things in that we really enjoy. Join the mIRC channel and you'll talk to a Dev member as if he was a buddy of yours.. You'll see how much they listen :>

Just my 2 cents.

I have to agree.  I have thought about asking for a refund and when it gets better... buying it again.  Where I come from money does have value and its not unlimited.  Speaking of major patch.  When is the next one...?

I hear you, and I can see how that can be a rewarding experience for some (helping a game reach its full potential, etc.), but I'm not interested in bug/play-testing.

I do participate in IRC discussions and talking to you guys has been a lot of fun, I'll certainly keep at it, but I just don't feel the need to play a game that I find plays like a chore at the moment. I'm not an experienced 4x player, so it's especially frustrating for me.

But I totally understand the opposite point of view.

yeah,. i'll be the first ti admit that the game has issues, but 1up clearly never even played the game, what a load of crap. if they want to give it a bad review, I can't really argue with it because the game has problems and needs alot of work. but to just throw up a grade without even playing the game? thats some bullshit right there.
