How to merge units to make them fight as one?

With the appropriate technology it is possible to "train" units to make them fight as one, is it also possible to merge several similar soldiers which have been created separately? How? Thanks I am going crazy!!

(by the way the game is amazing... really too many bugs for now, but amazing)

Yes with Tech -  you can build 1 4 8 or 12 "units" eg a pesant at once.  I can't find a way to add 4 pesantsetc into one stack even after you have the squad tec (4 units in one is a squad, 8 is a party -  or something like that)

You can only build squads once you researched the technology. You can change the amount with the buttons over the unit icons in the training window. You are not able to merge single units to a squad, you can only build them from scratch.

And to further add to this fact squads will replenish their numbers when they heal in one of your cities.
