[1.6 Bug][Unable to play] Can't start games Camp or Cust.

Custm - water/grass background; Camp - Blackscreen+sound

Hey Folks,

 

 

So i've tried to start the game a couple of times with 1.6, no joy so far.

 

Trying to start a Campaign gives me the intro movie thing and then a blackscreen with sound, and it does not progress any further. only option is ALT+F4, Ctrl+Alt+del 

Trying to start a Custom Game, Gives me a background with some water, grass, a mountain of sorts and sound. and just stays there slightly panning around, but does not progress any further, same solution as above.

 

specs:

W7 X64
Intel I7 920@2930
Nvidia Geforce 295GTX  ( 258.96_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_international_whql )

I have the exactly same problem. Happens on an Asus UL Series Notebook (Win 7 64 bits), with Geforce G210M, and the drivers provided by asus. There are no recent drivers updates for this gpu, and the Nvidia ones won't install on the Notebook (requires Asus drivers). However, in my Desktop, with a Geforce GT 9600 drivers 196.21 and Windows 7 (64 bits), the game runs just fine.

Forgot to say, playing in only cloth map also doesnt work . No need to reboot, Alt+Tab and closing the windows is enough.

 

Any ideas?

Exactly the same issue here, as posted in another thread. Would really like to see a solution for this.

I experienced the exact same problem too, but a reinstall solved everything for me. If you haven't tried that already I suggest you do that

Same issue. Tried reinstalling/administirative rights/drivers/directx reinstall. no luck. I just wanted to play this game this weekend before the next 3 weekends that I will be buried to my throat with work.

Releasing a forced-patch that reneders the game unplayable is not very professional.

 Have the exact same problem on an AMD Athlon X2 CPU with an ATi Radeon 5870 GPU. Running Windows 7.

 

The game works fine in 1.00, but wont go past the loading screen with any patch. Just stays at the panoramic picture at loading. And on campaign it's a black screen.

 

The game doesn't freeze, but it just wont finish loading. Sound and everything else works.

Just throwing in a me too. Worked fine with 1.0, upgraded to 1.5 and saw the above behaviour. 1.6 didn't fix it. Will try reinstalling.

Give us a heads-up on how it goes Dekoven !

Cause ive been through it all by now and still no cake ...

 

To fix the bugs in this game is going to require a patch the size of the original game soon.. =/

No dice on reinstalling for me. Reinstalled 3 times, tried all kinds of video settings - Admin mode and XP compatibility. I'm starting to think this may have to do with DX11, because a friend of mine has the exact same setup, only he is on DX9.

But I guess we'll do the "wait and see" thing for now. Really looking forward to playing some Elemental aswell! :)

Yes I did and it worked :D

 

I dont know if they are releated but:

I disabled Kaspersky Internet Security, I ran all the patch files with "Run as Admin" button. Worked like a charm.

Edit: <_< Overland movement is 10x more choppier compared with 1.0! Combat is not much different too.

         I guess I will quit playing for a couple of months until the beta is over and the game goes gold.

This is good news (at least in that it has a solution). I have been holding back from buying this because of this issue which I have seen posted by a lot of people.  No point shelling out $50 ($45 on amazon) if you can't use it.

Sequential upgrades certainly explains why some people didn't have this issue while others do.
