I wouldnt call it perfect, but its absofrakinlutely one hell of a nice TBSG, thats (turn based strategy game) for any of you that might still be wet behind the ears.  Its been a hell of a long time since I have seen a game of this caliber come out.  You guys at Stardock should be proud of yourselves.  Im hooked, can't stop playin it.

Keep up the great work supporting this baby, and you'll have a legend in no time.  Meanwhile, I've got kingdoms to crush under my boot.  I'll let you know what I'd like to see added in later, but I imagine some traditional fantasy style races would't hurt.

I would say this is doubtful even though it'd do wonders for the fantasy feel of the game.  Maybe in an expansion.  One can hope.

Sign me up for that one too.

Agree with the OP - even with the issues the game has atm keep coming back for one more (hundred more) turn.

Speaks volumes about the potential of the game when it is this fun to play even in its current state. Cant wait to see what it will be like in a couple of patches! :)

After playing this game for several days now I have to say, awesome.

The more I play this game the more I love it.  The level of customization is what really takes this game over the top.  The unit cards with the ability to pose them and throw in your own cliche'd quote ... too sweet.  After figuring out how to pace the game and knowing what to reseach and when ... pure coolnes.  You can almost feel a change in the world when other races figure out some peice of technology or magic before you and it leaves you scrambling in an effort to recoup your lost ground.  Playing an open ended game just feels so epic.  And then, if I want, I can jump into the map editor and throw together the fantasy world of my dreams with realative ease... so nice.

This thing is too good.  You don't have to wait for this game to become a legend it is a legend.

All that said there are some rough edges.  I'll bring your head back out of the clouds a little.

  1. FOW on the mini map doesn't reset properly between games
  2. Having the units queue up orders during tactical play would be nice so you can get them all moving quicker
  3. Would love to be able to rename my heros and have the new name show up in their background story, it doesnt currently change
  4. Remove repeat quest locations from the map after you solve the quest.. you get a marker for quests that you have done and when you enter them nothing happens because you have already done it.
  5. Starting sailing vessels are too slow, they need just a little more speed one square should feel better

Ill send some more later, but right now I have to get back to playing some before work....  feed the addictionfeedtheaddictionfeedtheaddiction.

I felt the same way while it was still shiny and new, but now that I've played for a while I've concluded the game itself is actually quite bad. The engine is amazing, the potential is there, but currently the actual game design, mechanics, balance and AI are all quite bad and shallow.

I do really want this game to be a success and end up as a classic of the genre, which is why I'm still on these forums. I guess we'll see what they can do to improve it over the next 6 months.

I feel much the same way.

And for you people talking about more traditional high fantasy races, that's something for the modders to do, Brad has stated that they're happy with that design decision. I for one also don't mind, I've had enough of people acting all pretentious and uppity because they're skinny and have pointy ears in my lifetime already.
