Custom Maps, surprised we're not seeing more of these now..

Granted,

It's still less then a week, so I'm sure perfectionist out there are still working on their maps, but overall I'm surprised we haven't seen any posted at all. I checked the mod library and it's pretty much still the same ones that were posted back on Monday, so I guess the question is, does anyone happen to have awesome huge maps they would like to share with the community?

The problem is, noone can enjoy or play these huge maps (or anything larger than "Large", without crashing like nuts) besides people with 64bit OS running 4gb or more. :/

Also the Cartographers Table (Map Editor) is a little buggy and could use more features and a guide.  People need to start asking for improvements for the map editor otherwise many map makers will look at the current design and switch to something different like modding or playing the game.

Been trying too, honest, but the map editaor made me repeatedly CTD, and wasn't that straightforward to figure out (man I just gave up completely till i heard yesterday that with the + and - keys you can change the amount of gridtiles to influence at the same time. I tried with just one but i went crazy. on a medium map, even).

Also, reasons it's not here now is, among other things, that i cannot seem to be able to place cities... like everyone has after about 25 turns. My map and my idea is that you start next to one...

(it's actually going to be a campaign, sorta, when finished)

i have a 64 bit windows 7 6 gigs of ram, still after turns done the game freezes for ai to move for about 5ish seconds. it get's annoying. i think i had a out of memory crash too yesterday

Look for Prirod in the map pile. Its more fun than most.

I posted this one. I guess the Stardock crew is still hammering out how to go about moderating all the mods. The map is huge (20x20), so don't click on the minimap, lest you want to CTD. Also, on my machine, I can only play so many turns before it crashes (anywhere from 10-50). Have a try and let me know.

I'm working on a large map currently, but a large map is... large. Which means there's a lot of fine detail work and whatnot associated with it, as well as some questions I have on the process which is slowing me down. Next map I make will be smaller, at least until I get the hang of it. I was a bit surprised that there weren't more maps for download though.

Yea, same here, think they are still kicking out the moderation of it or something, as there's been literally no uploads in that mod library since 8/23. However, there recently two maps (The one impinc did and TA map one too) that got released here which I will try soon enough

I've created some nice lsland maps but, the game is still not fully stable, the AI does play well on island maps, and harbors, shore hexes, load/unloading from ships are a mess (a lot more difficult than it should be), so I haven't make them available. There are still open issues/questions of resource spawning on maps, that yet to be answered.
