[Suggestion] 30 second fix to make champions viable without changing the game world.

Here we go:

Upon leveling, Champions should receive 3-4 points and every point spent in CON should equal 5HP gain, not 3HP like it is now.

So to simplify:

Champion Level= +(3-4) stat points

1 point in CON= +5HP

At least 3, but may be (2-4) random?

I figure champions are aprox 1 third of the power level they need to be, without making regular troops useless. But some games I played my Champions nevey got past level 7 and if we only double the stat points it becomes level 14 which they are still too weak.

I also like to play with Archer and Mage champions, not just fully armored Tank Champions. :)

Perhaps not a 30 second fix, but we should toss out Constitution as being directly linked to HP and make HP gain its own phenomenon that is tied, instead, to level gain. Constitution would then be relegated to being either an HP boost modifier, or an HP-regen/resist modifier.

Either way, having to dump points into Con just to survive while my champions lose the ability to deal any meaningful damage? Not ideal.

Well that was the point to my 30 second fix... The devs could open 2 notepads and change one number to 3, and another to 5 and "voila" solved.

Like a survivability hotfix :)

 

This way you can spare a point for CON every level, or not :)

Not really a 30 second fix any way you look at it. Devs have no "magical" notepad. Besides, they probably are out of essence (HAHA, I made an Elemental funny)!

What I'm going to do with my Traits Mod is add something like 10-20% HP or something like +10 HP to each NPC profession and sovereign talent. The NPC units shouldn't be effected by this so it should help keep those champions in one piece. [Note: This idea has been copywrited]

haha, I just want to learn how to change 2 numbers for short term gaming. I don't know how to mod :(

But somewhere in an XML or TXT/INI there has to be a line "stat_points_per_level= 1" LOL :)

How about keeping the current system in place as well as adding a 1-3 hp boost just for leveling? That way you can boost con for a larger HP gain or boost anothre stat, but your champion still gains a little survivability for his experience in battling the enemies of the world.

As it happens, there is. In ElementalDefs.xml you will find

<StatPointsPerLevelUp>1</StatPointsPerLevelUp> 

as to the Constitution changes that is in CoreUnitStats.xml
