Sound is a stuttering static mess

This has occurred since the last three patches. Upon selecting 'Play Game', as soon as the game screen comes up, the most awful mess of stuttering static begins, and doesn't ever stop. Disabling any/all of the background sound/music, etc. has no effect. Quite annoying to have to play the game with volume turned to zero.

Anyone else experiencing this, or have a solution/workaround?

Thanks!

I haven't had this problem myself, although one audio issue that did occur is that a few hundred turns in the audio stopped playing at all.

Can you post your system stats, including the brand and model of your sound card or audio chipset?

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and link the contents into a post here via pastebin. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem.

The file can be found in My Documents\My Games\Elemental

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug log will be erased and recreated for the new session.

I have this problem too: sound quitting. Music stops first, then fx in tactical battles; not sure wether the ambience sound stops as well.

Exiting the game and restarting helps though, for a while.

The original posted problem, i have not.

It would be most helpful if you could post your sound card or audio chipset information here. It would be even better if you posted the debug.err mentioned by kryo.

VIA released a new set of drivers earlier this month. Try installing these: http://www.viaarena.com/Driver/v7900a-1.zip

If they help, great. If not, let us know.

I get sound issues as well.  If I play for like 1-2 hours the sounds start sputtering and eventually the sound FX goes away completely.  If I quit and restart the game it's fine again.

I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi sound card and have the audio options set to 5,1 surround.
