Modding and Game Play

Three quick questions for anyone who might feel like fielding them.

1- Any suggestions on how to break into modding? I have very limited experience. I played around with mod building in NWN and NWN2 and got very frustrated in NWN, and almost threw my PC out the window with NWN2. Any suggestions on how to "learn" to mod aside from trial and error?

2- Is anyone experiencing either of these two problems.

A>>If you win a tactical battle and your sovreign or champion levels up your cursor is stuck as the movement cursor and you can't choose the attributes to complete the level up process? Consequently you have to force a shut down, load your last save, and choose auto resolve instead of tactical battle. It is a work around but the AI doesn't seem too bright and I always lose more troops in auto resolve than when I run the battle myself. I thought I saw somewhere this was supposed to be resolved in 1.05.xxx but I am still having the problem even after that update.

B>>How the @#$%^& do you build a lumbermill? I researched every civ tech, tried to left click on an old growth forest, right click on it, zoom in, zoom out, use the city build menu, but I never have a lumbermill as an option. Is there some relationsship between lumber mill and the great mill? for example if another kingdom built the great mill can I not build a lumber mill? I dont think this is the case as its never an option for me even when the great mill hasn't been completed.

A>> You don't have to shut down the computer to allocate the attribute points. The upper left tip of the cross icon of the movement cursor is at the same position as the tip of your mouse cursor. Did you really shut down every time you leveld up?  o_O

At the moment, it's trial and error. Once the dev team gets a breather, they've said that they'll probably write up some documentation to get people started off on the right foot.

Phaz,

Every time I finish a tactical battle and need to level up I've had to shut down. Tried using the corner of the X in the movement cursor and I can't get it to change the attributes. Like I said its not too bad, the multiple forced shut down's just had a pavlov's dog effect. Before I jump into a battle I'll look to see if I'm about to level up. If I am I'll go after the single creature (auto resolve) instead of the army of creatures, level up, and then go back after the multiple units. I'll try it again later today, but so far I've had no luck in using the movement cursor and changing the attributes no matter where I position the cursor.
