1.06 - **MAJOR BUG** 50% of tactical battles opponent stops moving/acting

(Save file attached) (isolated cause of one bug, explained in reply)

http://www.filesavr.com/MhK2YetN

after DLing the (hotfix) version of 1.06 I experienced many bugs, here are the most notable ones (they are present in the save file)

Battle Bug:
50% of my battles the enemy moves 1 or 2 turns and then stops moving/acting.  Not reacting to anything I do, not even counter-attacking my attacks, they become non-responsive.  I saw this a few times for minor battles, there is a major battle vs an enemy capital with many forces I am about to attack in the save file.  Reloading/rebooting did not help, its essentialy game braking.

Shop items Bug:
my leader has a different set of items he can buy than my merchant champion, furthermore they cannot equip the items they respectfully buy.
Ex: The merchant can buy boots+1move that my leader cant use, he also has stronger armors.   The leader has weaker armors he can buy that the merchant can't use.

Double Build:
I find that sometimes after building a +1 resource building I can build a second one right after.  Isn't there a limit of 1 per city?  If I build one, exit, and re-enter city screen I can no longer "double build".  There are several such double build structures in que at my northernmost city (Called Naza Bazaar).

Upgrading my base units results in some funky variations to creating a new build
ex:  Peasants give me 13hp +1 attack but -1 move -1 armor compared to an equivilant build with a bow.

as a final note, this difficulty setting (hardest) seems a bit too easy.  I played out the game by creating a warrior and rushing the first few nearby cities, then with the gold/loot I was able to buy mounts and bows for my champions.  Now I am about to take over my second capital and double everyone else in size.  Even minus the bugs the AI needs to be improved (and its starting defenses buffed a little to prevent rushing)

followup:

I found out how to work around the problem and may help you solve this.

Consider in the save at the battle I have 3 champions

Leader (90% of army strength)
Champion1
Champion2

My battle ratio to the enemy is 109 to 116 (fairly close)

I noticed that if I go in with any combination of 2 units, the battle is no longer broken.  This brings me to 3 theories

1: Battle is broken with 3 units
2: Some combination of the 2 champion traits cause the enemy to go still.
But its probobly 3:  The battle is so close to being evenly matched that the AI triggers some "be carefull" code that then goes into somekind of
loop and breaks itself.

--===-- Edit #2

I tried this same army vs smaller mobs in the area, they also go broken and idle out after a few tactical turns.  and it happens even if I go in with just 1 companion.
this makes me believe this isn't a "close battle" issue but a harder to isolate generic battle problem.

--===-- Edit #3 - PROBLEM FOUND!

I realized what is happening, their morale is dropping to 0!!!.  I notice that in all other conditions their moral hovers at a low amount but in any battle where I am close to even or less all my -enemy morale and +friendly morale modifiers result in a total moral victory.  This therefore isnt a bug, but maybe a severe balance issue - I don't think I should be allow to walk over an army thats equaly balanced to mine.  I think at moral 0 units should still atleast counter attack (at reduced damage) or/and flee

Hope that helps.

I see this often, 100% reproduce-able for every fight my sovereign is in.  I have over 300 morale (which does not reset per fight)and my enemy always panics and never gets any more moves.  It is likely due to an ability or combination of abilities - i.e. the +morale and -morale abilities.

Are save games needed to repro this?

If you have a reliable repro case, by all means please do upload it to drop.io and link it.

Ahh, yes this post was about a week ago - the file likely expired.

Here it is again:

look for "bane" my leader and his army of 3 (its the only real army on the map).  Attacking the city he is next to with all forces results in widespread panic in spite of being otherwise evenly matched.

They do get a turn out before they panic though.

Yahuula on the edge of the map contains my main army.  It has 400+ morale and instantly sends any opposition it encounters into panic.  This has been consistent 100% repro for 15+ battles.  You can see by pulling it out of the city and attacking.  Attached is a save file which I loaded and did one battle to create the debug.err.

Edit: And by panic I mean that the opposition just sits there and does not fight back after the first round.

If you have multiple champions with the "panic" perk (that reduces enemy morale) they lose their ability to act. It's an intended feature.

It still happens with only 1 champion in the fight.  My morale is absurdly high.  The enemy still fights in auto resolve.  The enemy still gets 1 move in tactical combat.

If it is in fact intended, it would still be a bug;  It's inconsistent between auto resolve and tactical, and the enemy just stands there and takes hits without fighting back or running.
