[1.06] Crash, out of memory, files attached.

This OOM error occurred when I clicked on the next turn button. Immediately before crashing, I heard a metal klang sound effect, like a hammer hitting an anvil.

The exact same OOM+Next Turn Button+Metal Klang sound occurred once before for me, sometime during Beta3.

Hope these files are helpful:

I also encountered the memory leak crash after updating to the 1.06 patch.  It seemed to be stable for a longer period of time than 1.05, but that just may have been the optimist in me.  My debug.err file is below.

There is definitely a serious memory leak in the program. Running 1.05 last night on Windows 7 (x64) with 6GB RAM and 8GB of Swap...

Before launching Elemental:

Free Physical Memory: 5GB

Total Commit: 2GB

After 45 minutes of play:

Free Physical Memory: 0

Total Commit: 14GB

That is scary. It crashed, out of memory, every 30-45 minutes, all evening. The actual physical memory used by the process never went over 1GB (it crashed at 1GB) but the commit kept climbing at an incredible rate. You could load the entire game into my RAM and have plenty of space left so there's no excuse for using up 12GB of space!

I've got it too. Crash every now and then. 6 times within a few hours.

End of quote

That sound is probably your windows sound effect for a critical error alert.  On my system with the theme I have the sound is more like if a very large man were to pass gas through a tuba.

Also, for security purposes mostly I think, they want everyone to use Pastebin to post file links in the forum.

Pretty much unstable... but maybe better for my ongoing thesis writing...

But still guys... I have got a 64bit Win7 Lenovo t410 4GB Memory Dual Core and a 256mb dedicated graphics card (NVS3100), the game should be at least stable on that configuration.

But in fact it is a mess.

Sins of a Solar Empire was a lot less buggy, go back and learn from your strategies there...

If it is not running within a week, I will have to rethink buying computer games.

At the Moment I want my money back.

On Patch 1.05 I was able to get to turn 265 before a oom crash. With the new patch I got 66 turns before oom.

My system is: Intel Core i7-920 Processor, 2.66 GHz,

GeForce GTX 260 with 1.2 gigs of ram

                  Windows 7 64 Bit

                  12 Gigs of ram.

I don`t know how to paste a link to the crash.

Regards,

Greg

Out of Memory Error at 1.06. Progress has been made in fixing the problem, the crash took somewhat longer than usual to happen for me.

Looking forward to the next update.

I've heard that clang and had the out of memory crash about every hour og gameplay since day 0, I assume it is still the 64bit and ATI issue again.

I have no idea, there has been very little feedback on this issue other than "update your drivers". Which we did, but the problem remains.

If I remember correctly I did pick up somewhere that it was related to Havoc.

Toss my name in the ring. Game gets progressively slower over time leading up to an inevitable out of memory error. Hope this is resolved soon.

It seems to be more of an issue than 64-bit or ATI.  I have win vista 32 bit with just updated Nvidia drivers, and I am still getting the same out of memory problem.
