How do I collect quest rewards?

I currently have 2 quests active where I have finished all the required stages, but the game won't let me finish them.

Specifically:

I saved a dragon egg for a dragon, and now all I have to do is return it to the quest giver.

I have gathered all the peices for the master quest, and now all I have to do is return the pieces to the starting fortress.

In both cases I bring the champion that has all the items (and did the quest from start to finish) back to the dungeon and the fortress tile respectively and nothing happens.

No quest dialogue, no reward, no victory screen, nothing. It's just like walking onto an empty tile.

I checked whether there was an option under actions (there isn't) I walked in with just the champion and no army (nothing happened) I brought in my Channeler instead or in addition to the champion but the result is the same.

How do I collect my new dragon ally and/or win the game via master quest?

Additionally: all the quest entry in the kingdom overview does is show the start of quest blurb and say whether it is active or complete. it says nothing about intermidiate stages or what you have to do next. What's the point of a quest log if it doesn't log anything and you have to memorise everything anyway?

If you go to your cloth map there will be a "new" yellow icon on one of the tiles, usually that is the end point (or mid points) of quests.  Rarely do you ever go back to the start to finish a quest.

 

Could that be what you are looking for?

There are only two yellow icons currently active on my cloth map (apart from a zillion air shards): The dragon's dungeon and the master quest's fortress. Both these quests also specifically told me to "return to sender". Entering them does nothing, as previously described.

I visited several yellow quest locations as part of both quests.

The quest log is, of course, no help at all.
