Particle cauldron problem

For some reason when I try to use the particle cauldron I can never see anything, all there is is a blank x-y-z plane for it to display on but nothing is displayed.  How can i fix this so I can start messing around with spells?

Can you give any further information on your situation? Does this happen if you go straight into the Particle Cauldron as soon as you start up the game? Do you alt-tab out of the game before going into the Cauldron? If so, this issue should be fixed in the next patch.

It does not work going straight into it, or after minimizing the game.  It just won't work for me.

Looking at your debug.err, it seems like the fix that's going into the next patch for particle effects not working after an alt-tab may fix the problem you're having, although I can't be certain yet. In the meantime, have you tried running the game in a window?

Strangely, it has started working on startup now.  Here is a new debug.err in which I started the game, went to the particle cauldron, loaded and played a few things, used alt-tab, opened it again, tried loadings stuff (didn't work this time) and then quit.

Here is a bug I just found recently.  When I'm in game and alt-tab then maximize the game again it will crash.

And no, I have not tried running it on lower resolutions.  I can play Starcraft 2 on maximum with no problems so it should not be an issue.  Would it help in some way to do so?

It should work fine in full-screen, it's just that there are differences in the way full-screen and windowed mode works, and I'm curious to see if the particle issue persists across the two modes. Looking at the two two debug.err files you've posted, I'm fairly certain that this problem should be fixed with the next patch.

There are no problems with minimizing the game in windowed mode.  The particle cauldron keeps working and the game does not crash.
