Very disappointed why can't they just make mom!

I tried Elemental and was very disapointed with it!

It's more like a poor up date to homm rather then the successor to MOM!

Why can't they

Carcater creation from MOM maybe improve the portait but just cosmetic not really needed

Just copy the magic system of mom no improvement needed here!.

The nps don't have to be the smartest just as long as they are entertaining to play!

Maybe improve the AI but give the npc character! like mom & the moo seiries.

The city sytem of MOM was ok no need to change it.

The custom Items creation of mom.

Research system of MOM

A random map generator lile mom.

Maybe improve the graphic to a lvl in the civ 3 or 4 sieies  don't to listen to the suits I much rathe have a tile based graphics that work rather then this thing that chugs and crarshes .

Why does a game over 20 years old have better gamplay then the stuff you can do?

I found the same thing between Galactic Civ & the moos the moos had better gameplay!

Brad I know you can do better stop listing to the siuits ! Galciv was a decent game not as good as the moos but a good game!

This last game I hate to say is peice of crap AOW & HOMM were much  abeter games.

Although I hope with extensive patching you will have good game but still needs alot of work!

You released it way too soon!

If you want MoM so bad just go buy it off of GOG.com. Elemental is its own game (and an amazingly fantastic game at that)

Brad owns the company, he is the "suit". He also maintained for years that since SD makes it's money elsewhere that there was no need to rush Elemental out the door.

Game mechanics aren't copyright protected. You could conceivably patent the, but then you need an actual patent - there is no automatic patent protection similar to how copyright works.

The legal reason is because Atari won't sell the rights for MoM, or at least not without a whole bunch of ludicrous strings attached.

The philosophical reason is because Stardock is building their own game here eventhough they may take inspiration from MoM or others.

That being said, while I am having fun with the game, I do agree there is lots of room for improvement. It would be great for this game to be as good as MoM, but I certainly don't want it to be the same as MoM.

Anyone with a level head, should take a step back and consider what the op is saying. The standards of turn based strategy games of the past are indeed far higher than Elemental.

In every aspect Elemental fails to meet standards of a decade ago.The campaign is a really bad joke, and Stardock should be ashamed of putting out this trash.

I was a Stardock fan with almost every game they have made, but I would rather play, HOMM3,MoM,Fantasy general,Total war, and a dozen other older games than this trash. Trust me, with this game and Brads Outrageous statement the other day, many Stardock fans are now on the move in search of a better gaming company.  OP you hit things right on the head except for remaking MoM that is.

Although I would normally ignore 2 year old intellects, you are correct. MoM had no Campaign mode, just a far more fleshed out game with interesting heroes and usable magic system. And yes my mother dressed me till the day she died, I can only hope you had a mother longer than I. Back to a game of Master of magic I go, as my list was only a few games I have installed, maybe I will play some UFO Defense instead.

They have always said there were making a game in the same genre as MoM, not MoM 2.  As far as sequels go for that function look no further than MOO 2.  That game is the reason they didn't make MoM 2.  What disaster that game was.

I would rather have something original.  MoM is a classic, give Elemental some time to iron out some wrinkles and I think you will be pretty happy.  We look back at MoM now with  fondness now, but when it first came out it certainly had its share of issues.  Some of which never got fixed.

For the same reason Infinity Ward didn't want to do any more Call of Duty games. After a while, you just want to make your own thing. Video games -are- a creative industry, after all, no matter how much big business it is.

BTW moo3 was soo bad becuase they tried to put everything in but the kitchen sink I find that is what they are trying to do witn EWOM just go back to the what was done right and improve things that tech can like AI & maybe graphics but you don't need bleading edge graphis for a tb game Keep the clasic gamplay.

EWOM is causing my computer to chug and crash while I don't have top of the line system it does things like unreal and fps games with out skiping a beat.

But  with EWOM it cant even display the cloth map with out major slowdowns & crashes ;)
