1.05 (hotfix?) Tactical Battle Performance

Hi guys, love the game, etc.

Anyways, I'm getting a pretty unbearable performance issue that I wasn't experiencing before the hotfix. Well, I should clarify and say that it could have been in the 1.05 patch itself because I only played for about 2 hours with that version and may not have done a tactical battle in that time, can't remember.

The issue is when it's my sovereign's turn in combat and he makes an attack, there are about 12-15 seconds where the game doesn't accept any input. Unit animations and music and everything are still happening, and I can still move the cursor around, I just can't do anything. This happens after every attack, so if I'm attacking 4 times in one turn, it literally takes about a full minute to do that. Believe me, this makes tactical battles incredibly boring and I autoresolve whenever I have the opportunity.

System specs as follows:

Windows Vista Home Premium

Intel Q6600 Core2 Quad, 4GB DDR2, ATI Radeon 5850

Oh, I also run the game from an Intel X-25M SSD, I think I saw that there were other issues with SSDs somewhere so I thought it might be worth mentioning.

Does this happen when you're using any particular weapon or spell, or always?

I have to guess what's going on here is that the game thinks your unit is still doing something (for one reason or another) and we try to prevent you from taking actions while units are "busy" (to prevent weird timing issues). Still it sounds like your case is resulting in a bad feel during battles, so the more info you could give about what you were doing the more help we'll be able to render code side to make future battles much more fun.

I would put it differently - my units do not react on the "strike/shoot" click if they have several strikes, the first time goes ok, but for the next one you need to click several times. Happens very often, starting from 1.05 indeed.

Not sure it start reacting after some timeout or because I click on different place on target.
