[Bug/Graphics] Total mess of triangles drawn over all graphics

The game screen is inundated with graphical glitches. It's hard to describe except to say that the game seems to be drawing multiple giant triangles or different colors and sizes across the entire map, blotting out anything underneath them.  they're all directional, so it's almost like it's drawing the light source, or something.

It starts with the game as soon as everything gets drawn, repeatably.  There's a moment where I can see my sovereign surrounded by white and then once the FoW goes away... boom, triangles!

Big screenshots follow:

Happens on the normal map: http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/2220/normalgraphics.png

Same thing on the cloth map: http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/9610/clothmapgraphics.png

Tried turning off shadows, using shadows at the highest and lowest settings.

Tried turning off anti-aliasing.

Tried turning off particle effects.

Tried various combinations of all these things.  No effect.

Changing my settings doesn't do anything.

I've been having this issue since the late-stage betas (0.98) but I figured it had to do with HP not updating the graphics drivers since January.  Lo and behold, HP released updated drivers for my machine on Aug 18th -- so my drivers are now from June :P.

The problem persists in 1.05 with the latest drivers for my system.  Currently I am trying uninstalling and reinstalling (whee another 1.8GB download).

I had this exact same problem. I have Windows 7 - 64 bit with ATI HD 5700 graphics. I solved the issue by installing old drivers (10.5 vs. the most recent 10.8 for my card). If you have an ATI card, you might try installing an older driver from earlier in the year. ATI website will not have it but there are various sites that have old drivers if you google for them. If you have another graphics card, you might try a similar approach by finding an older driver version and installing that.
