64-bit Version

I would like to clarify something for me what I find confusing at the moment.

Is the announced 64-bit version an extra built (you pay for) or is it an upgrade to the normal version of the game?

It will be released as a free update for those who own the game, no doubt.

Where did you see a 64 bit version mention?

I didn't even know they were planning a 64-bit build, if true that's awsome.

Frogboy's mentioned it a number of times as a future update.

... i think he mentions it in the tutorial video when selecting map size saying that the 64-bit version will allow for larger maps.

Brad has mentioned it numerous times. Quick search found this post for instance.

I was wondering about the 64bit version...I remember it being mentioned a few times but when I installed the game didn't see anything indicating a 64bit version.

So is one coming?

The last I heard some components that elemental uses do not have a 64 bit version.

But it may be that has changed as I am involved with the reactor overlay rather than the core game.

I think in one of your game descriptions that has mentioned features that may come in later but I don't remember where I have read that.

what i heard the 64 bit version should be included in the game. As it was intended for bigger maps etc ? or so the devs said.

Brad mentioned in the video tutorials that a 64 bit version was coming out...

Make a  64bit version of the game? Technically possible but unrealistic from marketing point of view: Cost a lot, gives nothing (in sales turms).

The only ONLY way I see Stardock doing 64bit version is that if game sells so well that they have really huge amount of extra money they did not planed on, users need it for extra huge maps and Brad think it would be a nice idea to play with.

Only if all those 3 condition met there is a chance for 64bit version.

Brad has already mentioned many times that there would be a 64 bit version coming out and that it would be a free update to the game. 64 bit versions specifically would be allowed to run with much larger maps.

I bought the game partly because of that statement and if I remember correctly such advertising makes it something of a binding comittment too, for Stardock. I doubt they would have just thrown it in there as a sales pitch. It's too specific. (there will be as opposed to maybe...)

I'm pretty sure they got that part settled with Intel (who owns havok), and from what I understand it was just the delay in getting the 64-bit license which forced them to delay the release of a 64-bit version.

I have bought the game now.

- Let aside the lack of a 64-bit implementation which I would like to see sometimes, 3 cdt within half an hour is too much.

Nevertheless, the game is cool, gamey and has the 5th X.

I'm running the game on a 64-bit system, no problems so far with the latest patch.

I never knew, but happy it is going to come..........

I am certain that the game will run stable over time on my hardware. It's not the 64-bit implementation what makes the game more or less stable. The instability of the current version is probably graphic card related as other users have also issues running Elemental on ATI cards.
