Protecting Caravans from Attacks while on their route..

Hey Everyone,

Quick question.. I'm not talking about while the Caravan is actually setting up the route, as its common sense if you're near some hostile creatures that if you want them to make it safe to the other side, perhaps it's best to give them an escort. However, here's the problem, how do you protect them once they already setup the route and have that road established between the two cities?

I mean, it's a pain to micro-manage every little creature that spawns, just a bit outside my influence zone, then all of sudden heads inside my zone, and goes right to the helpless caravan, lol. I didn't try this yet, but can you somehow join some troops to the trade route itself, so it always has an automatic escort? or is there perhaps some research down the line that helps protect them against those creature raiders?

Well, anyone happen to have any ideas on this that would be awesome :)

thanks,

You put bunkers with marines in them alo,g the road :)

To be serious, i dont think, just need to kill the criters...

It seems that if you send out the caravan with escorts to begin with, those escorts will stay with the caravan from then on. Or at least they seem to. I'm not sure if there's a way to add new escorts to caravans later.

I dislike the caravan system a lot, it's annoying that they did a very smart and cool thing by getting rid of 'workers', but then put in caravans to manage :/

Truthfully, just managing caravans isn't _too_ bad early in the game, but with the way the UI is, it's a real serious nightmare in any larger empire.

Is this still an issue? Since 1.05 my trade routes have not been attacked once established. And before that, normal stack will do.

Yep, it happened yesterday in my game. I have 3 cities, and naturally all of them linked with Caravans, and both my Caravans got attacked by Creatures, who initially started outside the influence zone, then came on into my zone and attacked it, and naturally won the battle easily, lol.

I know some of you stated to just kill the creatures, well I've done that, the problem is, eventually I'll see respawns just outside my zone of influence, and then eventually they will move towards my caravans. It is interesting how you say if you give them an escort, that they could stick with them after it's done, I'm going to have to try that today.

I will continue to do some more tests to see if maybe it was just some random fluke, or I wasn't really paying attention to my surroundings as much as i should, and will report back naturally.

thanks,
