Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and link the contents into a post here via pastebin. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem.

The file can be found in My Documents\My Games\Elemental

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug log will be erased and recreated for the new session.

Maybe an useless advice, but try checking the mouse hardware option , i noticed framerates going back to normal after that.

I tried checking the mouse hardware option and it didn't help.  Thanks for the advise though any help is great.

Try updating those video drivers, they're a year old. If nVidia doesn't offer any for your laptop, try laptopvideo2go.com.

This is very odd since this is the driver i have installed.  I will update it and see what the debugger says.  This may be another issue lol

Happens to us all

You might need to run a driver cleaner and try installing them again, then, as DirectX is reporting that you're running 118.64.

Kyro,

Very wired.  It seems nvidia's auto update thinks that the july 2009 version  is the latest.  Here is a link to the problem still happening with up-to-date drivers:

Lets face it, its probably not a driver problem, hundreds of users are reporting similar performance problems with a diverse group of system configurations.

Yeah, my performance (while better since the last patch) is still quite disappointing. I can't speak for everyone, but the performance of the game is the biggest thing preventing me from enjoying it at the moment.

I agree, I love the game and find it challenging enough, with few quirks of course, and my only issue is this terrible performance.

I've narrowed it so, that it has to have something to do with initiating combats. I bet everyone else noticed this too and there must be more posts about this.

- When I load the program and then my gamesave, everything goes smoothly.

- Then, every combat after another, the performance seems to drop. Sometimes the screen goes all white, still showing the HUD but nothing else and the HUD buttons are still working... So auto result takes me back to strategic view but it shouldn't be like that. And every time this whitening happens, the frame rate drops to slide show. This must be software issue, not hardware as many people experience this.

If it helps, my system is something like 2.6GHz P4 dualcore @6600, 3 Gb memory, Nvidia 9800Gx2, WinXP.

Just fix this technical issue so that I don't have to quit-restart 50 per game session... Please. :(

Yea, right now I'm only playing the game to help give information to fix the problem.  Due to the low fps it makes it almost un-playable.

Yup - for some reason Elemental doesn't want to utilize some people's GPUs.  No clue why - it happens to both Nvidia and ATI users, on multiple operating systems, according to this thread.

I found this to be odd.... Framerates were good until the first tactical combat of the game... The tactical screen was completely fogged out so I used auto-resolve to get through it, then when returning to the map framerates became so slow as to become unplayable.

my system is a little more dated than most, here's the specs:

AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core 4200+

2048 RAM

NVidia GeForce 7800 GTX

Windows XP Pro

DirectX 9.0c

Video drivers are up-to-date (7/9/10)

I have never been able to see anything in the tactical battle screen, always fogged out  X(

Well I have Win 7 Core2Duo E7400 + ATI 4870 + 8GB RAM + NEWEST ATI DRIVERS and I have 9FPS when cities or more units are on the map !!!!!!! >:(

Fuc.... this. Am going to play Mafia 2...

Totally agree. I'm liking what's happening during my game, but the terrible performance makes it next to implayable.

I'm surprised nobody has linked here yet: https://forums.elementalgame.com/391334

Kargion, I assume that you have the problem only when you have cities in view? have you tired using the cloth map? FPS should pick up enough to allow you to play the game that way at least,

if you got low FPS even on the cloth map, then you've go a different issue than the above one.

My problem is the same as everyone else.  Cloth map seems to work fine, 3D map gets single digit fps almost 100% of the time.  I have posted in the thread you linked over the past few days too.  It seems many people are having the same issues I am.  Good thing though in that thread on page 7ish Stardock posted said they are looking into this issue.

For some reason it seems its not using the core's correctly and not using the gpu correctly on many systems.

Thanks for all the input guys, its good to get help and information from the community.

We've got that particular issue resolved internally for the next update.
