Getting a refund?

I was wondering, do you think it is possible for me to get a refund for this 'game', either in the future or now? I'm a college kid and while gaming is my one self-allowed luxury, this isn't a game. This is a fantastic example of how NOT to make a game. It feels rushed, the overall polish is embarrassing, and the game mechanics themselves feel jumbled and idiotic. Half the game is waiting for something minor and inconsequential to happen. The other half is being disappointed by the results of the first half.

"but" you say "A crappy game is no basis for a refund! You can't get a refund for an overcooked steak once you've eaten it!" - while this argument by itself is foolish and imbecilic, I have another much better reason for why I think a refund is warranted. Star dock lied to me.

Lets see

they promised fully random maps -> we got like six sh*tty seed maps

they promised huge battles with thousands of soldiers -> we fight with small bands of boring looking men and bears.

they promised a living, breathing world -> we get goody huts and rat fetch quests.

Varied unit customization -> by 1/4th of the way into the game all soldiers look exactly alike. yawn.

the list could go on, but ive made my point.

I primarily want to wait another month or two to see if any of this gets fixed, and then get a refund, but i'm betting on the side of it all becoming a bigger mess so if there's a refund window of sorts or something i'll just take it now.

humorously I was offered a refund during beta when I attempted to point out what a wreck the game was becoming, and I dumbly held out. I would be happy with the satisfaction of being right but I just would rather have my money.

The only valid point I see here is about the lack of real armies.

This is going to plague this game forever, I think. The "armies" feel too much like DnD parties. No group of 3-4 people should ever be taking over an entire kingdom.

Instead of thinly veiling your rant as a "can I get a refund?" question, you should just e-mail [email protected] and ask.

Actually, no it's not. It's no more the game company's fault for you buying a game you don't like because you didn't wait until a demo, than it is the restaurant's fault for you not pointing out that your steak was overcooked after you took the first bite. Stardock repeatedly stated that, if you weren't sure about the game, they'd release a demo. You chose to, instead, not wait for that demo, and you should therefore pay the penalty of your lack of patience (and also, apparently, lack of foresight...you didn't like the game before, why would you think your opinion would magically change?).

Of course, AFAIK, Stardock's policy is to refund people for their games if they don't like them, so they'll probably do it anyway. I personally think that's a bad policy, but I can understand where they come from.

They hardly lied to you. They didnt promise you thats what you would have.

I agree the random map is a bit of a disapointment as is the campaign but the sandbox game is a lot of fun and pretty much delivers on all of their projected features. It needs polish but, as has been mentioned, we havent even played the full version yet.

Most of the games released nower days have bugs. Some more than others admittedly but then most games dont have such a community based team supporting it as Stardock.

If you really wanted to ask for a refund you would have emailed Stardock. This post is merely an attempt at seeking attention and a hope that you can inspire negativity where it might not have existed before.

Obviously you never played the "Champions of Krynn" saga. They did exactly that conquering much of the Dark Queens forces and capturing the Queen herself while killing her court. And Conan I might add did it single handedly. )

Of another note there's nothing wrong with this game of major proportions. All games have minor issues when they are new so therefore NO REFUND. If the game was broken (which it isn't) and was unplayable (which it it quite playable) then I would consider a refund. But, those points aren't met so NO REFEND. )

they only gripe i have is the lack of civ making...i know its getting moved but it would have to be the way it was...im not a modder
