Questions on how things work

Children, mana, etc

Hi guys,

I'm enjoying the game but I'm also confused about some things and unable to find answers.

My sovereign married someone and they've had a number of children. Most of the children have pretty good stats - way better than the wandering champions. However, one of the children was godlike: most of her stats were in the forties whilst she was still level 1. I don't understand why she's so powerful. Are children totally random, or do the skills of their parents affect it at all? Also, why are some children Channelers and some not?

Also, my kickass daughter regenerates health and mana during battles whereas my sovereign doesn't regenerate either. I don't know why this is. Do some characters naturally regenerate mana during battle? Is there any way I can get my sovereign to do it too?

How can I improve my level for quests? I'm currently at level 3 and I don't seem to be able to advance to level 4. I don't know how I got to level 3; there wasn't an event I associated with the increase.

Whenever I research stuff in Adventuring the monsters seem to get tougher and tougher. Is this working as designed? I'm afraid to do more research there right now as the wandering critters are about as tough as I can deal with right now.

Thanks in advance.

Randomized with weighting towards the parents' attributes, essentially. In other words, children will tend to have similar attributes as their parents but it's not 100% predictable, on purpose.

Hmm. All my Sovereigns to date have (slowly) regenerated mana during battle. Not sure if there's an attribute or geear relevant to this...anyone else got an answer?

Tech research in the Adventure branch of the tree, generally speaking.

As above, yes. Adventure research makes more and tougher mobs, locations and champions visible to you.

My kickass princess doesn't have any traits listed beyond Channeler, though she still regenerates 3 HP and 3 Mana each turn in battle. Is there a way to find out what traits people have?

(I recently found that another princess has that same set of traits... looks like all his daughters are much luckier than their hapless father, the Sovereign, who doesn't regenerate anything at all!)

What a coincidence that you asked the same thing at the same time. :)

My daughter got 200 mana, around 50 hp and regenerates 6 hp/mana each combat turn - on lvl 1. Now she leveled up and teleports with her troops as much as she wants, changes the landscape with the abundant use of magic and makes her father very very envious. :(
