Equipment Diversity?

So since many people already have the game, I want to know how diverse the selection of equipment is. Is it just basically just progression to the next level up in equipment, or will there be rare sets of weapons and armor to find? On another note, can you dual wield swords instead of using a shield, and are there two handed weapons available?

i think that there are 2 handed weapons, but i know you can't duel wield.

There's magical items available, as well as a variety of mundane items. Shields and two handers are available, though you can't dual wield. Also two different types of mounts too.
