how do i equip/uneqip items?

playing the campaign, trying to figure this game out by trial and error (really, stardock? no manual to speak of?? seriously!?)

 

and i made a town and a shop and i bought some boots... but how do i equip the boots on my dudes? like one of my guys is wearing warboots but i want him to wear these other boots... i can't for the life of me figure out how to change what he has....

 

any help?

 

and, seriously, how can there be no manual for a strategy game like this??

Open the inventory screen from the Shield button below his portrait, and click the items to equip in that screen.

No, there isn't.

 

There is a poorly written overly general memo that looks like maybe it is an outline for a manual that might be written one day. But that .pdf is no more a manual than your response is an answer to my question.

There is a 36 page document called "Training Manual" in your installation folder. Asking  "and, seriously, how can there be no manual for a strategy game like this??" means that you either didn't find it, didn't understand it or that you are not capable of writing coherent, factually correct questions.
