How To Retreat from Combat??

I've heard that its possible to retreat with champions, although I can't see any retreat button on the UI.

You have to move units to the age of the map behind you.

actually, from my experience (at this point) it seems to be to the glow to the sides/flanks of the map (for my team at least, the glow directly behind me was ineffective, hence this post).

I haven't tried the glow to the "north" although my bet so far is that only "east/west" are effective retreating points.

Thanks for that - I trie the glow behind me yesterday -  i'll try the sides next time one of my NPC's gets attacked on the way to a city.
