The old Enchanter

Did you by chance step on his lawn?

I have the same problem, any help would be nice.

I don't have the game in front of me so I can't verify, but is it like when you talk to you advisor the first time.  If you mouse over him the cursor changes and then clicking on him will bring up the conversation dialog?

No the old enchanter is a quest you get, you have to bring 3 midnightstones to his hut, which is a map tile (not a NPC).  Problem is when you go there with 3 midnight stones, he doesn't do anything, just tells you to bring 3 midnight stones again. 

LOL.

Good question, I hope the quest isn't broke. Brad's always talking about his damned "Mightnight Stones", he'd better have them fixed.

Did you check your inventory to see if the stones you have are gone? Maybe he took them and he needs more. I haven't gotten to the quest yet as I've been busy modding and playing with editors. I know that seems like a stupid question to ask but some times things like that get easily over-looked.

I've tried it with 4 and 5 midnight stones as well and he always refuses to make me something.

Edit: double checked due to the last post.  the stones are still in my inventory, I now have seven 

yip just checked mine again, I still have 3 midnight stones.

I'd laugh if it was a programming error where you had to have exactly three.  No more, no less.

Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Bumb, anyone know if this quest is still broken?

I'd like to know too, I'm sick of stabbing me foes with my rusty dagger I found on turn 1 from a pile of garbage. The enchanter promised me a mighty blade, and I damn well want it!

After a cold night sleeping on the lawn I went back to the old man's house, hoping that the dayllight helpt his eyesight or cleared his mind. I knocked at the door again and the old enchanter came out. "what can I do for you sonny?"he asked. "Well I brought these 3 midnight stones and I hoped you could make me something" I said. "Ah yes," the old man replied, "come back when you got 3 midnight stones" and with that he slammed the door shut. I again tried several times to convince him I had the 3 stones with me but every time he just told me to come back when I had 3 stones. Frustrated I gave up, again, and wandered back to my kingdom. From the road I noticed the old man yelling to one of his chickens, loudly telling it to come back with 3 midnight stones. I shook my head and walked on

 ( so yes, this morning that quest still seems to be bugged )

It is like third thread about this quest I have seen on this board since yesterday. Seems the quest is simply bugged.

Maybe you have to bring him any three stones between the hours of three and midnight??

Or maybe you have to be "stoned"  three times by midnight....

This seems like an episode out of Monty Python.

I had a similar problem and was able to get it to work. I had multiple champs in a large army trying to turn in the midnight stones. So I passed the midnight stones around to each champ in turn and sent them to the hut, and it eventually worked with one specific champion when he wasn't part of an army. Maybe if you experiment around with that you guys will be able to get it to work too. Good luck.

Well, for what it was worth, this quest worked for me last night in v 0.9999x (I got a +2 heavy shield).  The first time.  I picked up more midnight stones, and other stones of a similar nature, but didn't manage to find a way to use them for anything useful.
