Elemental: Preparing for Release Day!

Greetings!

We’re hoping those of you who got the early edition of the game are having a good time with it.  We’re on the chat channel (you can get to it in game by hitting Shift-Tab).

Some modders have already submitted some really cool maps which you can get to by hitting Shift-Tab and clicking on Mods.

We have a pretty big list of new things for the day 0 version over what was in the “gold” version that some people got and the pre-day 0 that we put out last night for those who pre-ordered and the beta group.

So here’s what to expect:

  • Lots of new Seed maps
  • Fixes for some crash issues that have been reported
  • There is an Alt-Tab crash issue on ATI cards that we have a call in to AMD about (the game uses a particular driver feature that is having an ugly side effect). If you can, run the game in a window (if you run it at the same resolution as your desktop, it effectively is the same as full screen).
  • Lots of little polish things being fixed, particular in tactical battles with regards to camera control and such.
  • Some various balancing tweaks here and there.

Stay tuned!

I will love you forever for a non-twitchy tactical battle camera. In a strictly platonic way, of course.

Yep, thanks alot for sort of everything... The Pre-Release today und the quick Updates now not the least :-)

(It's ugly to have the game crashed - with auto-saving somehow dind't do anything in the campaign, strange - while just getting through the Fire-Door to the realm of the Dark Legion(? was that the name...) )

But hey, the campaign is nonetheless great fun so far - what i laughed at the king's messenger... i just could'nt leave him standing there all ages long ;-)

So, back to work, oh no, back to the game now :P

Impulse Reactor Mod thing looks neat.

Overall, I'm liking what I see from Impulse Reactor so far- in terms of smoothness it seems to already be better then Steamworks.

Great news!  I must have put in two and a half hours into the game last night and really enjoyed it!  Great work!  Can't wait to see this game get even better with time!

Good to hear. Looking forward to seeing this game develop further.

Nice work. :)

Thoroughly enjoying the game so far. The challenges grow as your empire does. Well done. :)

It would be nice if you could add back in the old faction and race editors.  It's fine that they don't have as much flexibility as the XML.  It'd just be nice to have something to at least help us get the files set up and in the right places.

You should watch the tutorial videos.  His sleep deprivation is obvious and amusing.

If you need it to be in a non-platonic way, I'm sure it can be arranged.

Joking aside, awesome work on this game!  Can't wait to see it in an official post release state.

I do suspect that's the case, considering how late he was up and posting last night, and he was here in the morning too. We should certainly be grateful for this dedication.

I hope you can find time to sleep soon, Frogboy.

PLEASE fix the camera when you switch from building stuff to your city to going back to your units. It stays top down and it is annoying as heck.

I'm happy the City Stat screen show what Buildings have been produced. I notice the Tech Tree has changed for the better and appreciate some of the new city enhancements especially Irrigation in the Civilization branch and all the new Items in Warfare, it looks like a lot was added to Fortification. I haven't really looked at Adventure, Magic or Diplomacy research branches yet.

It will probably be a while until someone has charted the complete Production Tree, it should be interesting seeing all the changes from beta 4.

It seems Hedge Wall works differently than it did Previously, I don't remember it requiring 4 tiles per city.

I've downloaded the game just before work...but have not (yet) have had a chance to play.

Are there apparent issues, bugs and concerns?  Sure.

However, I have confidence in Stardock working through these. Yes. They stand by their products.  They improve their products.  And any software not made for an closed system (e.g. Apple) is going to have technical bugs. and other bugs--these things do happen. Its simply the nature of the beast. It doesn't mean that we eschew reporting the bugs, either (politely, rather than being drama queens).

I expect, in time, as good or better things from the Elemental-verse as we have received from the GalCiv-verse.

I agree.  I found that I could turn this off by unclicking "city zoom" in the options gameplay screen.

I played for about 2 hours last night , and really liked what I saw! Playing through the campaign has been fun so far! Just wanted to say thanks again for the work you have put in, and the work to come. Also I wanted to say that the forum Mods. must have the patience of Saints, because some of the post coming through yesterday were quite inflammatory at best! Just can't say it enough guys , THANKS!!!

I love it. The Gold version is sexy as hell imo. I really enjoy the tactical battles! The camera following the archer's arrow / spells is neat. I enjoyed the intro to the game as well, though I miss that one you had before that was early 90's style..I enjoyed that one too.

I actually had an odd issue with my system where i cranked up the video settings and everything ran ok bu my sovereign was invisible.   I have ATI 5830 cards.   It was very odd.   I turned AA off and that seemed to clear it up.   I thought my sovereign had inherited some cool stealth ability bu instead it was just a video glitch.  :)|-)

I have played most of the afternoon/evening without problems. Well, at certain point it didn't allow me to open the train units window (after some hours) and corrected itself after restarting. Hasn't happened again.

But so far so good and fun. :)

And what's about the lot of work you have put in AI since build of gold version?

End of Pantasd's quote

Assuming your talking about the combat victory status display screen then I believe that is the Sovereign's experience worth. If he or she is killed then the victorious unit will GAIN 50 XP. Most units have various worths.

Honestly, that worth should probably go up based on level, danger, and type of unit. Also, where is experience determined? I want to make sovereigns gain some passive experience points.
