[UI] Unable to equip items purchased in shop (modified)

I'm using a 64-bit Vista computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo dual-core 2.5 GHz processor.

When I purchase an item in the shop, it shows up as in my inventory in the shop screen, and can be traded to other units, but the 'items' tab under Vitals does not display it, and I can find absolutely no way to equip it.  The Help menu doesn't even mention using the shop, or managing inventory (a serious oversight btw).  I'm not entirely sure if this is a bug or just opaque design, but either way, it needs to be fixed, preferably by the 24th.

I don't want to come across as demanding, but the inventory is a core part of using champions, so is it too much to ask that it works properly upon release?

EDIT:  Annatar was able to point out how to reach the inventory screen, but the problem remains that the 'Items' section under vitals is confusing, and the inventory screen remains difficult to access.  Making the inventory screen also accessible from the 'Items' section would really help make things more intuitive.  Thanks!

There are 2 ways to get to the equipment screen, and the items section with the vitals isn't it. First is a button at the bottom of the unit portrait in the center (only highlighted if you have non-equipped equippables in your inventory, like armor/weapons). The second is by clicking on the icon next to your unit's HP bar on the other side of the portait. Similarly, clicking the icon next to mana will bring up the spellbook.

It's not communicated very clearly.

I am having a similar problem and am just blown away by it, that is of course if I am looking at it correctly. I am playing the campaign and decided to buy staves for my peasant units. The staff that I purchased and put on Relias had no problems, even switching that to the sword you find in the beginning was easy. I was even able to trade the staff to the unit that helps you found your first settlement and trade the three staves I bought to two peasant militia and another peasant I trained: but I cannot equip the items on them or change their equipment.

Is this a bug/glitch or is this the way it is supposed to function? I am of the mind that it is a bug/glitch because we are able to design our units and it would make sense to be able to alter the equipment of those units like hero or champion units. If this is not a bug/glitch and works the way it is intended it is a bit annoying and misleading because, again, we are able to design our own units.

Ultimately, I don't think I will be playing this game for the next few months if this is a glitch because it seems that there is some serious work that needs to be done and somehow hasn't been done...yet. It seems the development team is hard at work fixing these things and that's great, most companies would just let bugs/glitches sit. That said, I just don't want to play something that feels like Beta+ despite how neat it is: I want basic things to function. I'll be following the dev reports to see what's changed and what's been fixed, hopefully more will be fixed sooner rather than later. :ninja:

I have no longer seen the 'Equip' button since upgrading to 1.06.

There should, as had been pointed out during the beta, be only one screen for item management, and this one screen should be used for trading and equipping.

A bit like it was done in Diablo II.

It should also be made obvious where to find it.

Shopped gear can only be used by heroes. Trained units can carry it, but they can only use what they were trained for and cannot be upgraded.

Is there somewhere that says what a hero can wear? I hired a gladiator gave him a 2handed sword and a cape.  Didn't have enough money to get him some armor.  But I had some patchwork armor that I had found roaming the map.  Ya it is crap but it better than nothing.  Go to the equipment screen, equip the sword and cape but the armor I gave him doesn't show up.  I have ran into this many times on different toons.  It suck spending all your money on armor and then not being able to equip it and getting screwed selling it back.

Thanks for your help.

Ya, it's a little a wonky. My Sov, well, I always take adventurer, and she can't wear the traveler boots...She can't wear the sovereign armor, or at least the game notes when you get it that she can't wear it...she's a mage, and suggests you sell it in town but my heroes can wear it. It's really good armor that doesn't decrease your speed.

It's a good thing I checked back, there was a helpful response to be found! I do wonder why units can not be upgraded (because we can design units and, well, if we can design them it makes sense to give us the flexibility to upgrade them) and why units can be packmules. If I wanted something to be carried for a hero I would simply leave it on him, e.g. switch from the staff to the sword and let the hero carry the staff as well. I don't think there is some sort of encumbrance or max amount of items that a hero can carry so I just don't get this.

A final point of criticism here is that, after looking at the 'Master List' post, it seems that this game really does have a hell of a lot going for it and is truly a great game...but we really did get the Beta+ version of it. That is a lot of stuff to fix and to ask players to keep giving the Devs feedback on, almost too much to be honest. The only thing that is acceptable in this situation is that the Devs are actually listening and making the necessary changes, fixing things as fast as they can. Stardock deserves kudos for that, they really do, because most companies just wouldn't bother...but that doesn't mean that the situation is fair. Stardock should offer some sort of content as compensation to players that have purchased the game while still in this Beta+ stage to compensate them for the trouble they are going through. Multiplayer still doesn't work, for example, and I'm having trouble understanding that as well. My girlfriend and I bought the game to play together as well as with others, however every time we try to start multiplayer it is 'temporarily unavailable.' Again, and not to belabor the point, but this really looks like a Beta+ release and Stardock should compensate the players who have purchased the game and are kind enough to tolerate it. The company clearly knows that it's unacceptable and that is why they are working diligently to fix it.
