buying the game

Ok so i never bought a game online before.

Some questions.

1. I intend to get a new machine within the month. Any problems running the game on this and my new machine? serial keys and stuff?

2. I intend to buy from Europe with the box + digital download. Does this mean A ) both are necessary B ) i can download the game already through impulse and get it send home later?

3. maybe the most important! How long will it approx. take for the box to ship to Europe/Holland?

1. When I got a new machine, I simply installed Impulse on the new one, logged in, and could redownload and install the game without trouble. I think as long as it's just you using it (ie you're not playing it at the same time on both computers) you should be fine.

2. If you buy it through Impulse what happens is the digital version is registered as soon as the order goes through (due to the early release I"m not sure if that's today or tomorrow for new orders, but original release was supposed to be tomorrow). You can download and install the digital version immediately after the order goes through, without waiting for the box.

If you don't care about having a boxed copy, save yourself the shipping and just get the digital version.

Agree, go digital!  Having the "backup" always available to reinstall is great.   This is why digitial distribution is taking off.  There are still some rough edges to be worked out, but its done well.

Sounds great.

I have decided to wait a couple weeks since then i'll have a new machine anyway.

Added advantage has to be that some of the problems people are naturally encountering with a new release will be solved by then.

Am I the only one who thinks digital downloads should be a little cheaper than the retail box?

I agree. Maybe a few  dollars off, or perhaps  a bonus  game-related  small `gift,'

Gimmicks were one of the reasons that made buying games fun in the 80s and early 90s. They don't do this anymore, except for Collector's Editions (that have now the content that normal editions used to come with), and I agree that extras for the download version would be nice. Just cosmetic and vanity stuff, nothing that gives an actual advantage in the game. This would help with the feeling to get the same as someone who pirates, when buying digital versions. It's more of a psychological aspect than a practical one.

Retailers don't like being undercut by the publisher directly like that, which is why they're not. When the time comes that DD overtakes retail, you can expect to start to see it happen.

I agree that it would make more sense, given the extra cost of packaging, shipping, and the cut to the store.
