My impressions and suggestions.

I'm really having fun with this game! It is turning out a lot better than how I expected. Here are a couple of things I thought of while playing through the campaign. I hope this helps improve some things. Great job!

Some important things come to mind. There has to be a quicker way to get out of top down city view mode once you're done with that.

In order to view the stats of a unit you have to double click really fast and hold it on the last click, and then move the mouse cursor to the page it brings up.

Game really needs an "Edit unit" button.

There should be a prompt saying "Please end turn" whenever all your moves are up so you can keep going.

Lack of any tutorial makes things a little unintuitive.

Pop up notifications are a good thing, like in Civ 4. There should be an option to turn on letting you know when things are built.

There should be a random button for the unit design (The "Other" part)

The "hmm" grunts get repetitive sometimes. It reminds me of Exile (that old windows game, I think it's called Avernum now). I think there needs to be more "acknowledged orders" sound effects.

In-Battle Autoresolve. Where you see the battle occurring instead of either manually doing it or letting the computer do some random number thing to decide who won.

Bonus to this: You won't have to do the above if you include a drag all window in the battle screen.

Getting to the equip screen is a pain.

A couple of more things. Units being able to level up would be really cool. And also maybe seeing the dice roll math on how damage and to hit is calculated?

I've never really liked units "leveling up" as this turns the game into exploiting things that are easier than others (Or likein AOW you chop an enemy unit up with your fodder only to let your Leader kill it for maximum exp which is gamey).

I like a game where a pawn remains a pawn and you must use strategy not gamey tactics to win the battles.

I dig what you're saying and I agree.

Totally agree that the "ESC" key should back out of menus in towns and units; how it is now it goes to the options menu.

The auto-centering camera on units is kind of troublesome when you try to set up an angle on the map or battlefield to view everything at once. I'd like that option to me in the game options.

However, the meat of the game is great, and it's just these kinds of minor irks and quirks that need to be addressed to make this a classic!

Indeed, the core game of Elemental is absolutely fantastic. It just needs some significant polishing and some performance kinks worked out (3D objects and towns especially sucking out a lot of FPS, for example), but other than that this is looking to be one hell of a game down the run. Props to Stardock.

Go into the tactical battle; on the left side of the bar is a button for 'let AI play the battle' or something.

Units do level with enough exp.
