USB install

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to play / install to a USB and use that install to play on another computer (ie, does it write anything into the Windows folders that has to be there via install?)

 

If the game isn't portable that way, are the save games able to be moved from one machine with the game saved to another?

 

I am wanting to be able to install on my home PC (or USB) and use my laptop for my daily commute to work (hour each way)

There's no copy protection so you can just install it once per machine.

I imagine it does need a number of registry entries, however, and save games are likely to be in some subdirectory of %HOMEPATH% (eg :\Users\NAME\* in vista/7), so a "portable" install is unlikely.

In any case, USB keys are so painfully slow you don't want anything which has performance requirements of any kind on them.

I know you can install the game on your laptop & desktop. And as long as the two are both up-to-date (and nothing crazy is going on with the saved files) you should able to easily transfer saves from one machine to be used in another. Save files are probably stored under "my documents".

Saves are under the my documents folder so porting the game itself wouldn't really help there (and we don't mind you having it on your desktop and laptop at the same time anyway).
