Corpses

Hey all, really excited about this game, and I've got a quick question of a mainly graphical nature.  In the tactical battles, when units die do they stay on the ground as corpses (preferably in pools of blood)?  Or do they just disappear?  I only ask because I remember in the original Age of Wonders, after giant endgame fights the battlefield would be littered with corpses, and it just tends to add a little realism to have them remain throughout the fight.

Please excuse the slightly morbid nature of my question :)

Judging by the latest Beta videos out there and the gameplay screenshoots in the dev journal, the corpses disappear right after the unit is killed of. It might be different in the day-0 version, but I wouldn't count on it. Blood and gore is not the realm of Elemental.

I honestly can't remember. Are bodies removed from the tactical map? Or are we talking about the strategic map?

 

How will necromancy spells work if bodies don't remain on the tactical map? If the computer had the resources to load the units initially for the battle, there is no need to remove them until the battle is over with.

on tactical they fade in a few seconds.. As far as main map the only corpse/skeleton have been adventure locations..

I like the idea of corpses staying on the strategic map after a battle.  It marks the location of a major event, and would make the territory more interesting.  I suppose it would be the EWOM version of a historical marker, only written in blood.

What is great about this idea is that the longer the game goes on, the more battlefield debris would litter the landscape.  Having the land heal is a big deal, so leaving spots on the countryside that have been marked by violence would give it a more real feel.  They could disappear after a few years I suppose.

I have a feeling a Civ mod had that for a WWII scenario. Was always touching to see my hated enemy countries burning for a few turns :)

 

And to link in to possible necromancy spells a leftover battlefield could provide an excellent special location requirement for summoning strong undead units.
