Pre-ordered - But no sign of it anywhere

Greetings,

I preordered Elemental earlier today, and can't wait for the release. There's only one nagging worry: A complete lack of any signs that I have pre-ordered.

I pre-ordered on a new Impulse account (digital download only version), and when I got home I installed Impulse and logged in with my new login details. I expected to find it in my list of games with a note saying it would be available on Aug 24... but there's nothing there.

No biggie, I thought, I've probably received an e-mail with some information. Nope, no e-mail. No welcome e-mail regarding my Impulse registration, no receipt regarding my purchase, nothing.

Then I tried logging in to the forums here. I was greeted with a lovely "You must press the activation link in your e-mail" message. Of course I had received no such e-mail, but after making the site resend the activation e-mail, I got it, and I could activate my account and log in.

There's still no sign anywhere that I've bought Elemental, though. I haven't checked my credit card statement yet, but I'm guessing it won't be charged until the game is released anyway.

Is this normal for Impulse pre-orders?

(PS: Gmail, and yes, I've checked the spam folders)

AFAIK, you won't get an email until the game is available, and it won't show up in Impulse until the same. If it's the 24th and you still don't have anything, then I would get worried.

You should have received an confirmation email about your preorder. I have no idea where your emails went. But yes, it's entirely normal that it doesn't show up in your Impulse account until it's released. If your email address is correct, I don't think you'll bump into any problems.

You should have gotten an email confirming the pre-order. If you didn't get that, send an email to [email protected] and explain the situation to them. They can sort out what's going on.

The game itself won't appear in Impulse until it's released, or available for pre-load if it's going to be available that way (not sure if it will be).

I do not belive they actually charge the card until a product is available to ship. I orginally pre-ordered before the Beta started and did not receive an activation email until Beta 1 started - the same time my card was charged. Since you pre-ordered after the last beta phase was avaible you will probably by charged on the 23rd (when pre-order customers can start downloading the 0 day version of the game).

I wouldn't worry to much though, these guys are awesome.

They don't charge, but you should still get an email confirming the order. A second email with the charge will get sent when the charge happens.

Most likely it's just an issue with beta access being turned off, as that also caused issues with limited edition upgrades today. They'll be able to sort it out I'm sure.

Hey guys I had the same problem as you do and I emailed them at stardock sales. I've received a response that they do have and have had my preorder in their system and that the confirmation email is not being sent or anything. So as long as you got that receit of yours and your order number when you ordered it via impulse you're fine. They have your order and everything's alright.

I pre-ordered yesterday and immediately received a message in my inbox confirming the order.  If you didn't get one then I suggest you double check with Stardock to make sure everything went through O.K.

I, too, preordered this morning and didnt get a confirmation email. I just sent an email to support. Hopefully hear back soon. I've had alot of positive experiences when dealing with stardock support, so I wouldn't worry too much. In my case, I want to make sure my CC is ok. I had an issue last year when I preordered Red Faction Guerrilla 3 days ahead of release and Impulse did an initial verification of my CC, but didnt charge anything. Then, upon release, the CC couldn't be charged. I called the CC company and they had blocked a reoccuring charge. I had them unblock it and everything went through fine after that. I just want to make sure this situation (being less than a week from release) doesnt turn into that.

Like I said, I didn't get a confirmation email but after sending a mail to [email protected] I received an email from them saying this...

Hello,

There is an Elemental pre-order on file for you in our system. Your pre-order is being held until the game is made available to you. When this happens, you will receive your registration information via email so that you can gain access to the game in Impulse.

Your card has not yet been charged, however, you may see a pre-authorization to verify that the funds are available.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thank you,

Elisa

So yeah, it seems someone gets an email, someone doesn't:P Not sure how it works but worked for me.

It's possible that it just got spam filtered.

Not for me.

And not for me. Ordered two copies, one for me and one for my wife.

Same happened to me and I got the same response when I emailed sales.

Man Impulse is really finicky when it comes to pre-orders.

Yeah, I find it odd that a game you Pre-Order does not show up amongst My Games. Hopefully they will change that.

I also wish I could of payed straight away, I don't want to be billed later....

Dunno but I don't like how Impulse handles those kind of things. It's okay for me to wait. I can even get it that there much likely won't be any preload or somethin, thats okay too. But really...not charging until the game is available? What possible reason could there be for that?

The worst thing however is that the game isn't showing up on my Impulse acount until it's been released. It worries me. I may have gotten an email saying "yeah we see that you've pre ordered somethin..." but it just feels odd...incomplete somehow. Maybe I'm used to see pre ordered items on my games-list and that causes me to worry, however without any payment done and with no "look it's here waiting to be ready for you to be downloaded when it's done" it just leaves me confused if really everything worked or if my pre order somehow got broken or somethin.

Ahh well I guess this should be placed somewhere on the "Impulse suggestions and rants" section :D

End of quote

First, it's shifty charging for something without providing it on the spot (even Gamestop doesn't have you put down full price for in-store preorders, just $5 or something to "reserve" a copy). Second, not charging for a preorder allows people to change their minds and cancel without any hassle.

Only time I'd have a problem with paying early for something is if there wasn't a definite time the goods or service would become available.  That is to say that I never preorder a game until it has a firm release date.
