Item creation

Will there be an Item maker like MoM had?  I know that was one of the things I loved more was making my own magical items and artificats.  I used to take the artificer ability alot to help with that.  I havnt seen anything like that yet, and was wondering if it is planned to be added or if we just use whatever you find in the game.  I have yet to really find any magical items and only have used what i researched in the warfare tree.  If there are posts about this already, my apologies...every time I tried to use the search key above, I got strange web sites.

There's an Item maker as one of the editors...  otherwise nothing in the game yet.   I recall  AgeofWonders:ShadowMagic allows you to create items inside the game after raising your wizard tower to level_3 and constructing the forge.

Frogboy hinted at in-game item enchantment/creation coming in the first expansion pack, but there won't be anything for release.

Ahh ok...well at least thats something then.  I really hope they do put it in as I love to create stuff and arm my champs with it.  Not sure if they will ever do something like making mass amounts for reg troops.  thanks though for the info

i hope they do it the way it was implemented in MoM as opposed to AoWSM.  In AoW, while the forge was fun, all you could do was make minor items with up to three effects, from the same pool of abilities as every other wizard.  In MoM, you could also make artifacts, and the effects you could use were dependent on the spells you had researched.

I'm not sure, but I think in AoWSM some abilities for forged items are dependent on the researched spells. It's true that only weak items can be created (I usually create one with Casting Specialist to get these 10 extra channeling points), to get a more powerful item you should explore some ruins or complete a quest.

In MoM you can create so powerful items that it can be unbalancing, if you equip your heroes with them it makes it too easy to conquer the world.

I would have to disagree with you PawelS on it be OP.  It still went off your spells researched and the more you tried to enchant the longer it would take to make.  If you skill was uber, that certainly helped and on the harder lvls, you needed it all to compete against some of those sky drakes and worse.  Still, I can see what you are saying, but I really liked making the weapons.  I just hope they have something that allows you to make them, both minor stuff and major.

Like MoM with some restraint, please. Pawels is right about how easy it was to gear up a few folks with Ludicrously Powerful Items. I want the possibility, but I want it to be sort of a game goal in its own right and not a typical way to start mopping up an endgame.

Here's hoping that the expansion pack rumours Annatar mentioned will include some ritual (multi-turn strategic) magic. One thing that sort of limited mass production of mega-weapons in MoM was casting time.
