possibilities to buy game in europe

possibilities to buy game in europe

Hi guys,

I asked this question earlier on but what exactly are the possibilities to buy the game in europe since there isn't going to be retail. I never bought a game online and i dont have a creditcard or something like that, all the payment options on this site when you click on pre-order are unavailable to me. I really want to play this game but how to acquire it?? Are there going to be more payment options/ maybe some dutch online stores that allow bank transfers instead of creditcards?? Just saw some videos about the game and it really looks awesome to me. Like the cartoony style and eventhough the graphics maybe aren't as beautiful as in some other games that really doesn't matter that much, it's more about the gameplay really, that looks good to.

I hope someone can help me. I dont intent to buy the game until i get my new computer which will be in september but it would be nice to know in advance how to get it! thanks for your help!

This got very complicated very fast.

It's not like this place (Europe) is in the middle of the jungle. Other companies are actually able to get boxes to Europe and sell them too. And I'm sure they don't do it for altruistic purposes. How come Stardock cannot? Stardock's even done it before.

I appreciate the advice on how to get the game (box or no box), though. PW

As we have no business presence in Europe, we have to work through Euro publishers/distributors, and we wind up earning one or two euros per box (for reference, NA retail makes around $30 per box). It's just not worth doing when we can get the same return on 1/50th the DD sales.

See this journal for more info and discussion on the subject.

It is not profitable for us to provide boxes to European retail.

Alas! Pity, though, when it seems you've made a feast of a game. PW

Thank you for the swift replies. I'll go to Russia and get it...

Where is your capitalist spirit? There be booty here ready to be plundered by the likes of you!:P Time to get some (real) interest in the European market and stablish a foothold somewhere. There is some space for rent just under where I live so you could stablish yourselves there. Just saying.:-"

Yes the game will be localized and sold here in Russia... http://games.1c.ru/elemental_wom/ but Europe? Kek. It's quite strange.

Not so: you have less localization required for Russia versus what is required for Europe. And you can bet that each country has its own regulation about how to sold things with all needed legal stuff for customers rights.

Also, the exchange rate between USD and EUR may be annoying for a game produced in USD that must take into account localization/manufacturing/distribution costs in EUR.

And the nature of Stardock policy for rewarding customers with frequent and meaningful free updates doesn't play very well for localized versions ...

I orderd the specila edition ad i live in sweden.

It was way more cheep to get it from impulse then from amazon us with shipping.

But i guess if you can not pay online, then your out of luck.

EDIT:

Dont blame Frogboy.

Blame the EU and companys in europe that are so greedy thay over price.

Look at STEAM.

STEAM EUROPE charges more for the same game, then STEAM USA dose.

I've got a boxed copy for Sins of a Solar Empire sitting next to my PC but I won't be able to buy E:WoM in my local high street?

That kinda sucks.  If the game was £25 to download then I'd be happy to pay up but £32 just for a download seems a little steep given that the middleman is being cut out of the deal :(

The thing is, did Galc Civ II's expansions or SoaSE's expansions see retail presence or were they just digital releases? Because I thought they were just digital releases which in the end, means that if you want them, you need to deal with Impulse.

I suppose that Elemental is to follow a similar path which would mean that anyone hoping for expansions in retail is going to be dissapointed and may as well stick to digital all the way.

Getting hold of it in the EU isn't hard... getting hold of it without harsh International shipping costs..now THAT would be an achievement lol

@Wintersong: I have the boxed edition of Sins' Trinity Edition.  IIRC I've previously owned boxed versions of GC2's expansions.

Now I have to deal with Impulse and it will cost me more money than I would normally pay for a game.  Given that I'm dealing direct with the guys making it - there are no shipping costs or B&M stores taking their cut - that seems like a damn cheek.

Not only that but it costs the same for a pure DD as it does for getting the box in the USA.

IMHO the normal version should have only be available via download with the only physical version being the Collectors.

I'm tired of seeing games cost 20% or more on DD than I can buy from a shop.  I have a friend who recently bought Sup Com 2 from steam for £8.50 because it was on offer.  His questionable choice in RTS games aside he could have bought it for less from an online shop.

Are you speaking about Stardock games available in Impulse? or about generally games available in Impulse?
