Will there be more with Dynasties on release?

Will Dynasties play a bigger part in the game on release? Right now, it seems that that piece falls short and is only a way to get a new patch of characters in your cities. Will the expanded diplomacy tech tree enhance this? What can you all share that are in the know?

And more spells cast on the first turn of combat!?

No, but seriously - we're told there will be more everything (all features, anyway) come release. What, specifically, that entails is anyone's guess - but hopefully a more fleshed out and gameplay-significant dynasty system, definitely. If they don't have time to improve dynasties, I have no doubt it'll be modded/patched in post release.

The primary benefit of dynasties is to gain children who have essence and thus can cast spells.

After release, we can listen to ideas of what people would like fleshed out. :)

Inheritance! Wars of succession!

..ok, ok, saving suggestions for post-release (and/or a song of ice and fire mod).

Inheritance/wars of succession were actually plugged at last year's PAX, that was part of the original plan for dynasties. Would be nice to see it implemented in an expansion.

Yeah I certainly don't mind waiting, there are more important things to perfect - such as tactical combat - but it would be a great addition for an expansion, when it comes to that.

Indeed. That's something that had to be commented out because it was taking me far too long to program AI that made use of it effectively and as you know, we try to avoid having features the AI doesn't use.

Wait, so children can now be born with essence in the final build? That's great, is there any sort of formula to it or is it random?

Also dynasties are what attracted both myself and a friend to game, so would definitely like to see them expanded upon as much as possible =)

In .981, the kids seem to all be spawn of excessive inbreeding even when my sov picks the first wandering mate who comes along. I sure hope that even before RTM, there are some changes to those surrealistically low stats.

That aside, it's looking like my hopes for the focus of the first and second expansion packs are 1) More Fun with Magic, and 2) More Fun with Dynasties. Hopefully at least one of those current impressions will be blown out of the water by the shiny results of the final pre-RTM coding crunch.
