Will there be more techs in the tech tree in final release?

Will there be more techs in the tech tree in final release? It seems I finish most techs fairly quickly. On a medium map I'll have three cities and most of the techs finished. I realize the game's more about less cities, but even so its too fast I think. So I'm wondering if the devs have mentioned(that i've missed) anything about more techs being in the final version? I believe there will be more spells and abilities. I remember reading that.

should since knowing stardock's betas are quit horrid not going to really play another stardock beta again!

they are going to add more stuff after release gameplay wise so expect some tech.

I don't chime in here often but thats one of the most retarded things I've read in a while, KillzEmAllGod.

All Betas are "quit horrid". Thats the point. You are playing an unfinished version of the game and testing different functions out. The whole point is almost to see what doesn't work.

I'm sorry if you thought you were downloading a Demo of a finished product, but I'm pretty sure every time you clicked on something regarding Elemental it made sure you knew you were playing a Beta.

I knew that we didn't receive the full picture on this topic :-)

we were promised to have ultra-rare techs and all sorts of other goodies. "Infinite tech tree", among other things. I'm really really hoping that comes to fruition, though I know that new techs will constantly be patched in so I'm glad for that.

Already exists, there are techs that you can keep researching for repeated bonuses. What else could it be? :P

starcraft 2 had a beta to test game play, elemental's was for almost for everything and i was it is quit horrid with all the chaos, not saying it was bad just feel like i should have waited for it to be finished instead of getting annoyed at crash / broken thing.

and calling some one a retarded isn't nice. if i had my way maths would be before english.

If this is you first Strardock Beta well it would seem different... they have been beta testing this game for a very long time.. I myself just got in at beta 3.. This beta test was not a full version of the game(and this was on purpose so we would enjoy the game on release rather then see it as old), rather we tested different parts of the game set up in a similar frame work as the game to test for functionality, bugs, fun, and ideas.. In the 4 versions I have tested I have seen remarkable strides made.. but what has impressed me the most was the number of changes made and yet promised because of tester input.. This is the first beta (and I have done many) that I have seen this level of communication and cooperation with us to try to make the game great.. I am not saying others do a bad job..  I am saying Stardock does it different..

If you don't like they way they do it.. I can respect that..

But you did come off a little trollish so i can see why some reacted negatively to your post..

I apologize. Calling you retarded was not nice and uncalled for. Although technically I didn't call you retarded, I thought you said something retarded. You just caught the anger from me, after seeing so many other people thinking they were getting a demo.

And yes I Also played the StarCraft 2 Beta. Totally different than how a Beta actually works.

1. They only listened to unit balancing. No new units, gameplay elements, etc.
2. They had a team who specifically worked on the Beta. Just that alone.
3. The game has been in "development for like what 10 years?
4. By the time you got the Beta, the game was "done". Just single player campaign, unit balancing. bugs. thats what was left.

@ Killzemallgod

1) It's not what you say, but how you say it!

2) Please, don't compare apples with oranges - "beta wise". Blizz and Stardock are totally different companies with totally different beta concepts. Boy, the whole corporate strategie differs...

3) Frogboy repeatedly gave the advice not to join the beta if not capable of a fair portion of distress. To lazy to sum it up with links. Go search for yourself if u like... at the beta forums

4) You are free to do what you like - join the party or move on. no hassle

yea these apples and oranges are 1 and 0s both made for the same system. betas will all have there fun and pain.

I myself just got in at beta 3.. This beta test was not a full version of the game

i got in around beta 1z cloth map only for about 2 months, it was rather slow moving at fist, still horrid with all the crashing makes my eyes bleed, beta 4 not so much with modding.

on the note of techs i think Refined ones should be limited to how many you are allowed in a tech tree if we still have them.

hopefully there will be enough tech for a large scale epic game. :sheep:

Not all of them are. "Beta" means something different at different companies. In a more formal process, "beta" comes when the program is feature complete, and by that standard beta 4 is the only one that would be an actual beta.  Betas 2 and 3 were alpha, and beta 1 might have been pre-alpha.

Other people define it differently. Google uses "beta" to mean "we're done, but we don't know when we'll stop calling it a beta". Stardock uses it to mean something else.

Not all beta's are horrid in fact not too long ago beta testers got a final release beta version as well as a full boxed game for free. Hell I wouldn't even beta test if I wasn't getting something rewarding or free out of it. I am disappointed in this beta test though. I paid $80 upfront so I expected a lot more than this out of the beta. We should get 1 or 2 days before release of the final version IMO. Especially all those that paid the $80 upfront.

Stardock betas rock.  This is one of the few betas where request that are made by the community get answered.  So for the Stardock employees on here - ignore the nay sayers - they know not what they do!

That's a rather big sense of entitlement from someone who according to their post history has never submitted a single bug report in the entire beta.

I think your kinda out there....what difference if you get 1 or 2 days before release?  nothing.  You paid 80 dollars to help shape the way the final game would be, by offering suggestions and actually providing something from you.  I think its pathetic to think  you deserve something.
