[Gameplay] Alliances and Ceasefires

For one thing, I can't see how the comp determines the perceived value of alliances and ceasefires.  Some nations seem willing to pay me absurd amounts to have the, while others insist I pay them, and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with my diplomatic capital and only a marginal amount to do with my power rating.

Secondly, can we have alliances include ceasefires in them?  It seems a bit odd when my ally-since-turn-50, whose lands are honeycombed with roads I built, with whom I have trade and technology treaties, and whose family tree is half my descendants informs me that we are not welcome on her lands.

Yeah, I kinda HATE having to re-negotiate the darn "non-aggression" pacts every 50 turns just so my scouts can continue and for new trade. They should be permanent upon signing for something like 10 turns, afterwords you can cancel them (with a cool-down timer before war can be declared).

I'm almost to the point to go in and change the code for the "non-aggression" pact to make it infinite but I don't know if the AI would handle it well.

Agreed! fully should be just that.. as long as we honor alliance should be no issue..  simple fix is before an attack can be made on any ally tiles, alliance must be broken which forces all units from former ally's land before allowing attack.. another method to prevent the ally rush ( where we ally with nation only to move troops to attack close to capital) add a negative modifier to future alliances call it diplomatic reputation you can use this for any abusive or negative act to make future negotiations with all other kingdoms difficult.. if this is not already in there heh heh

End of Twohawks's quote

Yeah, if you break an alliance or attack under "non-aggression" you should lose a bunch of relations with everyone so they don't trust you or possibly declare war on you (if its low enough). That's certainly workable with the game's diplomatic system.
